WELFARE COSTS FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS IN LA COUNTY OVER $35 MILLION IN JULY

Total Annual Cost of Illegals on Taxpayers Exceeds $1 Billion

LOS ANGELES COUNTY -- A new report shows illegal aliens and their families in Los Angeles County collected over $35 million in welfare and food stamp allocations in July, announced Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

Illegals collected nearly $20 million in welfare assistance for July, 2007 and an additional $15 million in monthly food stamp allocations for an estimated annual cost of $440 million.
“Illegal immigration continues to have a devastating impact on Los Angeles County taxpayers,” said Antonovich. “In addition to $220 million for public safety and $400 million for healthcare, the $440 million in welfare allocations bring the total cost to County taxpayers that exceeds $1 billion

I highly respect the US military but what is it with the leaders these days. I don't care the politics of anyone but all you hear about the last few years is generals going after generals and telling plans or pointing out weaknesses in policy or military leadership whom by the way are suppose to call the bulk of the shots in a war or conflict. I understand that Rumsfield probably had a lot to do with it wanting to limit the size of the force but still I have to ask who taught the leadership strategy or loyalty or just not to share information that could help the enemy or demoralize the troops? I mean who came up and again I understand having a small force in the middle east & only 1/3 of it really combat troops but who invades a town or city just to turn around and leave? Common sense should tell you to take the town or city hold it tell you have it secured but reinforcements before moving on. In and out policy is why we are where we are today. Fast isn't always better.

If you have movie channels, you are perfectly legal to record movies off of them, you can use a TIVO or a DVR to copy them, too. You are not allowed to re-broadcast or make money off of it, but you can legally copy it.

However, if you rent a movie, you cannot copy it, even if you do not re-broadcast or not make any money.

Does anyone know the rationale of this?

I posted a question regarding my fear that the US government does not uphold the values that make America what it was founded on and I wanted some serious advice on whether I should stay in ROTC and hope I can make a difference someday or quit (I don't have a scholarship yet and I'm not contracted yet) and try to make my difference in the civilian sector or politics. Keep in mind if I quit ROTC, I would join the reserves as soon as I graduate from college so it's not the military I'm trying to get away from, I'm just trying to find out where I would make a better difference. I was received with hostility and people accused me of being a Muslim terrorist trying to undermine the United States. And this wasn't by one person, it was by many. Am I wrong in how I feel or is there a large population of ignorant extremists on both the right and left in this country?
