WELFARE COSTS FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS IN LA COUNTY OVER $35 MILLION IN JULY

Total Annual Cost of Illegals on Taxpayers Exceeds $1 Billion

LOS ANGELES COUNTY -- A new report shows illegal aliens and their families in Los Angeles County collected over $35 million in welfare and food stamp allocations in July, announced Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

Illegals collected nearly $20 million in welfare assistance for July, 2007 and an additional $15 million in monthly food stamp allocations for an estimated annual cost of $440 million.
“Illegal immigration continues to have a devastating impact on Los Angeles County taxpayers,” said Antonovich. “In addition to $220 million for public safety and $400 million for healthcare, the $440 million in welfare allocations bring the total cost to County taxpayers that exceeds $1 billion

this absolutely makes my stomach churn when did it become okay to not work and to not earn your own way in life. I am so glad that I can give my child health care, an education, food, and shelter and I don't have to depend on someone else. My husband and I work for our things and we struggle day to day but we have 2 hands and 2 feet so we can work. I absolutely refuse to eat off the system so why do illegal people have to? do they want a better life? why would they want to brag about what you have just said?
more people need to read these kind of statistics in their own city as well

To be quite honest, the moment I read that FAIR had something to do with your question, I stopped reading. FAIR is most certainly a one-sided political group, and they will interpret things to work toward their political views. The Comptroller of Texas did a study and presented its results in 2006. The study looked at the impact of unlawful aliens in Texas on the state economy. To the best of my knowledge, this was the only study of comparable size and scope that was completed by an unbiased organization. The State of Texas simply wanted to know what the truth was, so they went to find out. The results showed that unlawful aliens contributed to the Texas economy more than they took away. For full disclosure, the study did not look at some county costs and local education costs, however those may show the same results as well. Sometimes what causes a state to sink or swim is how they tax. There are different forms of taxes that are more difficult to avoid, whether intentionally or unintentionally.

Well, I had my head burried in the sand for a long time.... Many still do. The media does not want to publicuize the truth because they are scared of illiagal aliens protesting them..... They are cowards.... Our Country needs to round them up and send them home NOW.... I think that every US Citizen (regardless of income level) should go and apply for food stamps and any other assistance out there.... Yes this will create problems in our wellfare system and maybe, just maybe, our government will put a stop to the illegals stealing our programs and services.

Funny thing is a friend who works at the food stamp office here told me that illegals get food stamps and financial assistance without having ss#s, any proof of income or even ID. She says that the same people are getting services from many counties but they can do nothing. Also, US Citizens cannot get services without propper documentation..... It's not fair!

Well it is our own fault. Everybody here talking about buying there children things and affording health care. That is not the issue. The issue is why do illegals come here? They come here because companies will hired them here in the US. They will take any job here in the US and do it for less. And yes there are companies here that will hire those people for less. Then you be able to afford such nice things go and pay higher prices every year. You do so without complaining. You blame everyone but the companies hire cheap labor and still jacking the price up.You do so because you can afford it even if you struggle. Why not hold the companies responsible? Do you think illegals come here to see the Grand Canyon?Empire State Building? Statue of Liberty? No they come here because they know there are companies here that will hire them.farmers have been saying for years that prices would sky rocket if they couldn't hire labor from mexico.Been to the store lately?

Because the Liberal politicians and their cronies in the Liberal News Media don`t want you to know. Once you know this you will begin to ask question about why it is being done ? When you start asking why , then you will find that the liberals are in favor of "free stuff" for ILLEGALS because they are VOTES ! The more free stuff " the Liberals can give to the Illegals ; when election time rolls around the Liberal politicians can say "vote for me " as I am responsible for getting you all this "free stuff" ; and if you re-elect me I will get you more "free stuff". It`s all about the "Liberal Power & The Vision of the Elite"...It is refreshing to finally see someone asking " what in the crap is going on here". When enough hard working Americans get pizzed enough and start raising their voices to our great elected leaders of this country about this , then & only then will you be heard . Otherwise the Liberal Bias` Media will continue to print crap that makes you think that you are doing something wrong if you are not "Politically Correct"

Because of hypocrisy, is the ONLY reason why that story wasn't ran. Yes, it IS a huge story. The LAtime, Weekly, and Daily News are for big buisiness and doesn't care about having good news reporters...just reports to back up the spin they want to take place about each report.

And to the person who touted that illegal aliens actually pay taxes. NO, they don't...if they did then why do you think they were actually hired? The people who hire illegal aliens want the cheapest that they can find and they don't like to pay taxes because if they did then the employer would also have to pay them minimum wage, and they don't want to do that because they are cheap!

I answered a question once using that site. Remember that is only 1 city in 1 state. The cost nation wide is staggering. It is not racist, it is factual. That is most likely why it hurts them more. You cannot argue a fact.

Sergio, here we go once again. Yes, some illegal aliens do pay taxes, but they pay them with stolen s.s#'s. If they had a tax ID# or a green card or a resident alien card they wouldn't be illegal now would they.

Most illegals do not pay any taxes, or only pay a small percentage of what they should be paying. If they work under the table, and for cash, they DO NOT go an accountant and claim those cash income!!! The only tax they are paying with certainty is sales tax when they purchase items.
