i don't know about that, but i do believe that many people don't appreciate their luck

most americans are citizens by luck alone; they were lucky enough to be born here.

however, they quickly take this for granted and sometimes demand the above and beyond from the unlucky ones

and not to cause conflict, but in response to dirty martini, there are many cases in which the "criminals" were just as equal as the "law abiding"

for instance, run-away slaves were fighting for their rights, however, they were not worse than the law-abiding. in some cases, the law-abiding are even worse than the "criminal." plunging further into my analogy, there were fugitive slave-catchers who returned the run-away slaved back into slavery; a malicious and vengeful act, yet legally acceptable.

re: re: i'm not comparing the two situations, i'm merely pointing out the fact that the "criminal" is not always the bad one. back then, people's perspectives were screwed due to racism. who's to say that now days perspectives aren't being screwed by other means?

re:re:re: i see you have fallen back on some sort of insult, to my understanding. a 10th grade debate club? no, but we are engaged in a discussion over political matters.

I never heard an American say he/she was better. I am white. It is just a color. Be proud of whatever you are but be at least congenial with everyone you meet.

A person is only better than the other guy if he contributes more to the betterment of mankind but that does not take away respect for the other guy.

Yes.
As some of the other had mentioned, we don't "Think" we are better, we "KNOW" we are better. We were piss poor once, and we had been attacked-more than once, but we always surmount, and overcome our adverse situations. We didn't run across the border to Canada, or Mexico to take advantage of those countries. Apparently you also think America is better too. Or, perhaps you are just typing somewhere in Mexico.

Finally, people of all skin colors made this country great. Obiously you are not only narrow minded, but lack of education as well.

Wow! U.S. citizens are all white? Gee, I must be all messed up. Here I thought that people who met the criteria of the Constitution and its Amendments, and immigration laws, were entitled to citizenship, regardless of color or national origin. I think I ought to demand a refund on the 80K I spent getting my degree in American History.

We are not "better" than anyone else, but we are sovereign in our rights because we are citizens of the country in which we live.

Remember the Alamo, remember San Jacinto, Vera Cruz, Chapultapec, Monterrey...yep, we are better . Whupped your countries butt on many occaisions. Now you want to run up here illegally.

Stay where you are, or you might not like the reception you will get here for running your mouth like that !

Neither of the above. I don't think I am better or worse than anyone.

And race, country of origin, gender or other things like that do not play into how I judge people.

To paraphrase Dr. Martin Luther King, who said it best, judge a man not by the color of his skin but by the content of his character.

What kind of mentality pieces together this twisted opinion based strictly on race? Black people are Americans too. Do yourself a favor and keep your eyes open along with your mind. You have the logic of a child.

Americans are born in America.
Mexicans are born in Mexico.
What's so difficult to understand?

We are better for several reasons, however, place of birth and color of our skin are not among them.

The fact that the US is so much better than Mexico leads literally millions of Mexicans to go north. If America wasn't better they wouldn't come here.

How about posting this question on a Mexican website, designed by Mexicans, financed by Mexicans...of course you can't...there aren't any.

Better has nothing to do with it. That I don't want strangers running into my house without asking and using my kids' school supplies and eating our food doesn't mean I think I'm 'better' than the strangers, only that I pay for this stuff for my family, not theirs. They need to go to their own homes and earn and pay for their own stuff.

no, i think i am an american with all the rights and previleges of citizenship. yes i am white but i also have a mexican heritage, which i used to be proud of. and am stilll proud of my grandparents because they came to america the right way. they taught us to respect all americans and legal immigrants. what about law breakers, are we supposed to respect their "right" to break the law.
