I'm actually hoping it will happen and hopefully sometime soon. It'd be pretty awesome to fight in it.

Excerpt from an article relating to a judge's decision to reverse an unconstutional ban on same-sex marriages in one Iowa county:

"House Minority Leader Christopher Rants, R-Sioux City, said the judge's ruling only illustrates the need for a state constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.

"I can't believe this is happening in Iowa," he said. "I guarantee you there will a vote on this issue come January."

Translation?

"We need to discriminate against gays and lesbians some more!"

Same think also happened in Kansas. Anti-discrimination laws in effect for gays and lesbians in the work force.

I think it's over for the GOP. They are losing their hold against what had been driving them for decades into power: Xenophobia, homophobia, racial intolerance, and racial animosity.

Isn't Kansas and Iowa traditionally red-state Republican strongholds?

I see liberals dominating the evenings and late night and the few times I've gotten on during work hours, lots of conservatives.

Is this because cons tend to be older and therefore retired and have time to get on during the day or is it because they love to post on company time?

We live on a military base in a HUGE three bedroom townhome. We have liked living here thus far for the past five months. As you know military people are generally very friendly but some have a tendency to not know when to go home, sit around outside all day and watch each and every movement of other neighbors (me being one)... Not only do they gossip and talk behind everyone's back -whilst still being BEST buddies, they mooch off others, drink too much, and use foul language in front of the kids. They also frequently call the military police on one another and I hate that!

Anyhow, just as an example the other day I took my daughter for a walk to the park (it was a park that is near two units down from us (each unit has its own park). SO I took her to another one IMAGINE??? My neighbor yelled my name way across the grounds several times. It was really a bit embarrassing to me. I just waved. Later as we headed back to our unit, she says 'What's wrong with OUR playground???' ? cont

For example, cons believe that investing in the American people to help them work their way up (social spending) does not reduce poverty, but in fact increases poverty.

They believe this to be true because some college dropout pundit on the radio told them, but have they ever tried to verify for themselves if this was true?

Same thing with supply side economics versus Keynesian economics. Cons think it is written in stone that cutting taxes mostly for the rich, cutting social programs, and deregulating leads to better economic growth then shifting taxes to the rich and investing in the American people.

Why not go to third party reliable sources and see for youself if this is true or not.

I see alot of opinion on yahoo, but few people back it up with facts.

can you tell your prime minister, that Bush bloke, to steer clear of Australia this week with the APEC meeting. He is not welcome here. Unless of course he wants to just have a gork around, thats fine.
He has to pay for his own cabs though.

I want to know how many people agree with me on this. I think the truancy law is stupid because you can make a child go to school but you can't make them learn. A child that doesn't want to learn will not learn properly and often causes disturbances to people who do want to learn. It also waste school resources and time when a child who doesn't want to go to school is forced to go to school because it waste the teachers time as well as the child's time.
