The injustifiable war in Iraq alone is enough to generate justifiable hatred for the Bush.

Add on the taking away of rights, Katrina response or lack thereof, refusal to go after Bin Laden post-Iraq war, "you're either with us or against us", "stay the course", "Brownie, you're doing a heckuva job!"... and so on.

The all-star team of republican politicians he had in the beginning of his "era" are all but gone because of his bumbling and lack of leadership. You wonder why he still has a very small but vocal presence worshipping him (such as here). You have to be ignorant to still worship him like a god that many of you still are doing.

It is a leadership issue, I suspect many that hate Bush don't know exactly what the presidents job is.
Being a leadership issue, and given that not everyone will be benefiting at the same time, anyone that has suffered losses, due to NAFTA for example, shouldn't be expected to be happy with the leadership.
Regarding bush in particular, there have been some alarming occurrences...the American people are no longer free to assume our legal system works, if it did what would be the need for the Patriot act...there for on account of GWB the American people are left to believe either the justice system does not work, or the patriot act is pure folly or a part of a bigger agenda.

Bush haters are not sick, they are disappointed to the point of distraction. Bush is a simple minded, sick and disappointing as a President. He has done nothing right as far as I can tell.

Bush was President when 9-11 happened. He was asleep at the switch. Bush allowed the Saudis to leave the United States the first couple of days after the 9-11 disaster even though it was mostly Saudis that were flying the 9-11 planes.
Bush allow the top men of Al Qaida to escape at Tora Bora.

Bush charged into the attack on Irag spouting untruths and being frankly uncaring about what was about to happen to our Troops.

Bush has tried to spin a positive story through-out the Iraq War but has been wrong at every turn of events. Bush refuses to accept that eventually we will have to leave Iraq because the Iraqi's simply do not want us there.

Bush kept praising the so called Iraq Government for actions he has been calling for for four long years and nothing happens on the political front.

Bush keeps finding Generals that agree with him and refusing to listen to Generals that disagree with him. The latest is the current hand picked General, The Chief of Staff of the Military, General Pace.

You will not believe the history that is being written about Bush, the worst President in American History. Every time Bush opens his mouth he exposes both of his own feet.

i don't really have an answer to your question, but while i definitely disapprove of bush and his administration's policies in general, i'm not a bush hater. yes, he is misguided, and has made some horrible mistakes, the effects of which we'll see far into the future, but i'm not convinced that he is an evil man. i'm speculating here, sorry, but i have a feeling that he was doing what he thought was right, it just so happened that he was wrong.

Many people in any debate are ignorant -- meaning they ignore facts that would contradict their position.

Some, on both sides, have valid reasons for the conclusions and opinions they have formed.

In the case of an emotional reaction, very often the legal distinctions and finer points of logic aren't relevant -- emotions can be based (validly) on a much broader range of factors than, for example, a determination of legal guilt.

Yes, many who oppose Bush have a valid claim that he has violated federal laws and constitutional provisions. The fact that the US Supreme Court (and other federal courts) have confirmed this means that, as a matter of law, it cannot be considered wholly irrational -- even if there are those who reach a different conclusion.

i think it's sad that you can have respect for someone and then they say what president they like and you turn your back on them and are rude. Read what your saying to each other!

Everyone has their own opinion, i think it's just awful that because we disagree over the president, we can say such nasty things and stereotype in such a way. I'm not saying anything about which way i go, you'll call me a name. But let me say this... i don't think the problems are completely with the government. i think it's about who we have become too. We have overcome racism and sexism... now we just have the battle of rude, nasty people who are mean to other people just because they can be.

I don't understand why we can't share opinions with others but keep the terrible comments to ourselves. Have we no self control? it makes me sad and sick at heart to know that there can never be just a political debate between educated human beings without slander as the question asker requested (they said keep in clean and stick to the facts).

So to those who are up for a good, clean debate, let's go. But if your just going to put someone down with no regard to their feelings then i say you back out of this page and find another question to answer.

What I don't understand is how some people (very few, admittedly) stand by him so steadfastly.

His corruption and lies and greed are all a part of the public record, any new information just adds fuel to the fire.

How can his supporters turn a blind eye to the one man who should be trying to defend this nation and it's constitution, not tearing them both apart.

Yes.

But hold on! Don't mark me a Republican yet!

I don't HATE Bush. I dislike his presidency. Hate is too strong. I don't want him dead or anything. I'm sure he's a decent person aside from all the politics.

I just don't like what he's done while in the office.

Think about the phrase: "Things have gotten really good under Bush." Its literally satire of itself, thats enough for me. He's a lame duck president! He doesn't deserve the admiration of the right or the ire of the left.

Many legitimate historians consider Bush one of the worst presidents in history.
I'm not a Bush hater, though I agree that he has done a lot of damage to this country.
