My question is how long is the meb board process? Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? Im getting close to my ets date, and i dont wanna stay here longer due to my meb board, can i just ets and then file a claim? Or if my injuries are known and documented can i just take the ets pysical and then can they give me a percentage of disability or do i have to go to the meb board to get a disability rating??

This is a process that depends solely on their decision. I have heard that even filed claims and clear proof that the injury occurred due to daily pt, doesn't always guarantee that your going to get much of a settlement. I may be wrong and I hope that I am and that you will get a fair shake. I believe that the doctors reports, x-rays, physical therapy, and how long you have been on profile will determine your disability. A lot of it factors into whether or not your condition is permanent and also if it interferes with your mos duties. I believe they do a rating and will notify you. It is their duty to be sure that your injuries do not worsen and they don't want additional liabilities.

I personally went through this and if you can stick it out, you'll usually get a better deal with the ME board. If you leave with your ETS and then go back to the VA and file a claim, you'll usually get less. And when you do your ETS phys, tell them everything that is bothering you because if something turns up 5 years down the road, you may be able to link it your time in service and can get a higher percentage because of your new diagnosis. But also watch what you say because they are quick to say you went in with the injury. That's what happened to me and now I have to get a lawyer to go back and argue it. But really, ME boards and your VA benefits are just easier to fight while still in service so try to put up with it a little longer. Oh and ME boards can take anywhere from 1 week to over 2 years. When I went through it a few years ago, I was told the norm was about 8-14 months so it can vary but it really depends on where you're at in the process. The key thing being, do you have a diagnosis and have the docs done all they can to try and "fix" your problem? If you said yes, then you should just be waiting for your case to go in front of the board. If you said no, do all you can to try and push for this to get done. Good luck!

The Med Board Process is anywhere form three to six months long. You should stick around and do a voluntary extension. Trust me, it will be worth it to you in the long run. If you do get out through the MEB, you will more likely than not receive a severance package equal to 2*base pay*years of service. This chunk of change will be very helpful for you in starting your new life over, because you will have about two months or so before your VA benefits really kick in and you get a chance to find new employment.

Stick it out. It's in your best interest.

depends on how much your unit likes you. If they hate you, they'll roll out the red carpet.
