Details: Libertarians belive in individual rights (those things we don't seem to have anymore) as well as individual responsibilities. They believe in the legalization of pot, but also the responsibility that comes with that. Everybody is a grown up and should be treated as such. If you make the choice to get high and you kill someone in your car, then you can't blame the drugs because you choose to drive. They believe in a persons right to persue whatever lifestyle suits them, so long as it does not infringe on another persons rights. You know, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

All that has to be said about why we have to pay taxes has been said. Question is though, Since it is voluntary to pay taxes why are we forced to pay them, if not we can go to jail?
Why can't the government print more money to pay what needs to be paid. Your response please. Thank you.

:
Why of course the people don't want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally the common people don't want war neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.

Here is my problem, My wifes grandparents are 85 and 91yrs old. They own a 1800 sq. ft. 2 story home that they have lived in for the past 17 years. Their property taxes are 1100 dollars under the current SOH and homestead plan. Without the exemptions the taxes would be 6700 dollars based on a market value of $284,000 per the county website. The grandmother has not been upstairs in over 5 years due to physical reasons and of course that is where the bedrooms and bathtubs are. So they have their beds downstairs in the dining room and she baths herself with a washcloth and a bucket. My wife and I live in a 1 story 1000 sq. ft. home with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths which was fine for us until we had our first daughter 3 years ago and then twins girls last year. Our taxes are 985 dollars a year under the current SOH and homestead plan, we have lived here for 9 years. Without the exemptions the taxes would be 3300 dollars. The grandparents have offered to swap houses with us which would help all of us out. We need more room with the children and they need for grandma to shower for obvious health reasons. They intend to leave the house to my wife after they pass anyway so they figure why not do the switch now. They dont want to buy my house but are willing to rent it to cover our current mortgage payments. How, if any, is there a way to make the move without the property taxes jumping to 10,000 dollars a year between the two properties. The $2100 in property taxes we pay now between the grandparents and ourselves we can handle but jumping to 10 grand seems absurd since neither of us are anywhere close to being rich. They are obviously retired and living on a small fixed income and we are tapioca due to the cost of 3 kids and only 1 income producer as my wife stays home with the kids. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I say we make the switch without saying anything to anyone but grandpa doesnt want grandma to get thrown in the pokie in the county finds out. Thanks for your time

What do you think about how the courts render decisions? Two exacally, the same incidents, different States and different judgments. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 the highest.

I dont understand, first the Judge who sues a Laundry owners $60 millions for a lost pants, and now this??

Why does America got so many Morons as judges?

Below is a New article links.
I'll summerize it here:
A police Officer was attacked by a drunk person at his house, so he Beated up that drunk person near death "IN HIS PROPERTY".
Then, the judge sentenced 5 yrs of jail term for the officer, saying that "he should have ignored the attacker and run away, not to beat him up because the officer is a trained man."

Suppose a guy bragged that he had sex with a girl when she was a minor and he was well over the age of consent. Regardless of whether it is true or not, he continued to brag about it years later even after becoming a mayor. Is statutory rape charges a possibility since he claims to have had sex with her when she was under age?

This would certainly shut him up once and for all, aye?

Why does the United States maintain diplomatic relations and trade with China, and still maintain an embargo on Cuba? Very contradictory isn't it?

I am being dead serious, I am not here to cause trouble, or even debate. My brother was in the Army for 16 years. He says "this needs to be done" when asked about Iraq. But a lot of the public is pulling to get our troops home. So, I know what the general public says, and what my brother says. I just hate seeing our troops injured and killed. What do people now or previously in the military have to say about this? Should we bring our troops home from Iraq? And also, should we still keep trying to find Bin Laden?
As a civilian, I want our troops home, and I wish like crazy Bin Laden could be found and brought to justice. Should we do an invasion similar to Iraq if we know where Bin Laden is? Does anyone think that will happen?
In advance, I appreciate any answers you can give me that are your honest opinions. I am NOT here to debate if Bush should bring the troops home, I am interested in the feelings of military personnel, past and present, on this subject.
Thanks everyone.
