My husband has pressed charges against his ex wife's husband for harrassment (this guy didn't stop the harrassment even after the police told him to stop) I think the police got upset that he thumbed his nose at them and DA has taken the case. My husbands ex wife keeps saying "it's not worth going to court over, it wasn't that big of deal". She even emailed us today and offered us money to drop the case. But I'm wondering - if it weren't a big deal, would the DA have taken the case? Or does the DA have to take any case he's given? Clearly, I don't know much about 'criminal' things, does anyone have any information that would clear this up for me?

I am gobsmacked that there are questions on here about this. Some people have even refered to "payback" for help we have sent to countries such as Bangladesh. What planet are they on?

I basically just threw in a set of MP3 files on a CD that went along with the book, except I burned them for the users convenience. The listing was promptly removed, I learned my lesson, and NO TRANSACTION whatsoever was made with anyone. The CD's were not even going to be burned until someone had bought the books. The company is now emailing me and threatening to take legal action if I do not pay for the price of the CD's (which I already purchased legally) and send an appology letter etc. I was wondering have I commited any kind of crime by doing all this? Remember no transaction was made. I am worried that if I send an appology I am admitting that I have done something that I haven't and that will lead to worse problems.

Thanks!

Isn't PREJUDICE almost the same as being a RACIST. Do you do thing to Hip Hop Artist like what the KKK did to BLACKS or like what ADOLF HITLER did to the JEWS?

What do you think will happen? Will Republican Congresspeople put a stop to US involvement in Iraq soon enough to make Iraq a non-issue in the upcoming Presidential election? Will it be same-o same-o with a lot of quibbling? Please speculate on this. Please share your thoughts.

I am a shift supervisor at lowe's and my store manager told me that since i am a young man that I need to do more work then the elderly man in our department. He also told me that if I did not that they would find someone else who would. Is this any kind of discrimination ? I dont understand how he can tell me that since i am young and male that my work load should be more and threaten to demote me or fire me if I did not comply.

What I was wondering about anarchy and crushing "the man" and all that is, why would anyone smart enough to assess political choices and determine that the solution to end political problems is a reveloution that would endanger millions of peoples lives? While I admit Bush is not doing a great job either, communism and socialism don't work, just look at China.

Is the problem stupid people and hyper-extreme liberals ( note that liberal isn't a bad thing in moderation- just look it up.) who are too stupid to recognize one bad alternative (communism.) from the slightly imperfect capitalism? Or can you think of a better and plausible solution to these problems besides anarchy. Preferably stopping the patriot act?

Actually, what are these problems about capitalism? Is the unequal distribution of wealth better than the equal distribution of poverty? And how would the threat of constantly getting shot or blown up better than having a bad president?

I'm talking about being publicly flogged or hung.

Some people court attention all their lives, yet are given the curtain of anonymity when they fall foul of the law. Although the deterrents of flogging or hanging have been proven not to work on 'normal' people, I think that the public pain and/or death of miscreant celebrities would be an ample warning to other celebrities to behave themselves, and therefore set a better example for the rest of us.

Paris Hilton? OJ Simpson?

Our congress and senate members could not agree on a new bill introduced to give amnesty to 12 to 20 million illegals and change our current laws controlling immigration. That bill is a dead issue and it is being said the argument will not be taken up again for some time as we place more emphasis on who is going to become the next president. Do we really want to just forget the need to reform our immigration laws and ignore the problems with illegal aliens? Shouldn't we be pushing our Senators and Congressmen to continue working this issue? We need LEGAL aliens and legal immigrants in the United States and we should do everything we can to develop a safe, sane and satisfactory program allowing an adequate workforce to come to the United States; to be welcomed, to work legally, be treated with dignity and respect, and at the same time make maximum effort to stop illegal aliens at the border and prosecute employers who hire them!
