Most Americans are conservative in ideology, but voted mostly Democrat in 2006 because they did not like Bush. Now, Congress's approval rating is lower than Bush's and the average American is not too happy with Congress or the Democrats at the moment. I think it is mostly wimps and the poor that vote Democrat.

Nothing is going to be solved as long as Bush is at the helm so we might as well start thinking ahead. How do we fix this mess?

The majority of answers went with killing the assailant, for various reasons, but in my local paper this morning I read a case of someone being attacked by someone else and he was fined £700 for `over-reacting` and injuring the attacker!!
Was that right?

On Yahoo news it has a picture of Ted Kennedy and Pelosi and the words
WASHINGTON - The Senate drove a stake Thursday through President Bush's plan to legalize millions of unlawful immigrants, likely postponing major action on immigration until after the 2008 elections.

If it was Kennedy and Bush that put it together Why make Kennedy look as though He and the Seante Killed Bush's Bill?

I am concerned about all the media attention surrounding the disbarring of DA Nifong in the Duke Lacrosse Team rape case. From all the articles I have been reading, there have actually been many accounts of misconduct by Duke students other than this case. It doesn't surprise me that as a DA, whether the rape account was accurate or not, that he would try the case to the fullest extent. There also appears to be other witnesses after the alleged event that noted behaviorism that could conclude that the rape indeed took place.
What is worriesome to me is the fact that the DA who tried the case is being made a public example. Whether the young woman suffered the traumatic event, or was money hungry and lied about the event, the idea that the DA is being made an example is peculiar. Does anyone else feel that this might be a scare tactic from an agenda to scare off prosecutors from taking on cases where a black woman has been raped?

We only try to go after the individual... when somebody messes up it is that person who gets in trouble.... and I totally agree with this.... why should i be punished for the mistake of someone else. that´s just our culture. and i love it.... we are on the extreme left or right whichever one, we´re on the extreme.

other extreme is the collectivist societies... meaning if somebody messes up, him and the group are punished, so now not only are you motivated not to mess up by yourself but the group motivates you too....

we should take a more collectivist approach to Iraq... 1 guy in the group shoots a gun and we look for that guy... he gets away and does it again.... this is individualistic... going after the individual

1 guy in a group shoots a gun we go after the whole group. this would send a clear message that the groups should not allow these individuals to shoot the guns, and if they do then they all have a problem. this way they wouldn´t allow these guys to shoot the guns

So what is the big deal with Bush replacing just 8? He didn't even replace all of Clinton's appointees. How come we didn't hear an uproar over Clinton cleaning house in '93?

educating their own children on the subject...

According to this site, abortions in general have decreased significantly BUT the ages at which the average girl getting an abortion is is much lower... in one state it jumps from the average age of 28 in 1988 to age 14 in 1996. Other states jumped from 25 & 26 to 16. What in the world is going on? Are parents of a new opinion "we don't have to tell our girl about protection, we'll just get her an abortion"?

Did Congress pimp slap Bush (rightly so)? A little bit of "in your face!" over his immigration ideas (amnesty). Several Democrats voted it down too.

This bill had a great many things in it besides that POS amnasty provision. Are there any elements of this legislation that are generally appealing to all sides.

I hate hearing how we need a "comprehensive" plan. Lets do the things that work, one at a time if needed.

Think about it. Despite what you hope happens in the 08' elections, there is a better than good chance that Bush's antics are going to cost the Republicans the White House. Are you going to be okay with a Democrat Administration being able to play the same games with Congress that Bush/Cheney does? Are you going to be okay with say Hillary Clinton using "signing statements" to inhibit Congress from asserting it's right to checks and balances? Are you going to be cool if say Bill Clinton refuses to turn over documents because he's suddenly NOT in the Executive Branch anymore? Because everything that Bush and Cheney get away with now will be acceptable behavior for adminsitrations in the future.

Someone I know lost a lawsuit to a small corporation and I believe that person now owes them around $10,000. If the corporation, which is legal entity, goes out of business (essentially dying) does that individual still owe the money to the nonexistent business? It would be like owing money to a dead person without any relatives... Well founded arguments and factual answers only please
