Good name, by the way. Awesome book. By your standards, you'd probably say equal opportunity right? I think so too. After given an opportunity, it's all up to the person what to make of it. Equal outcome will lower motivation for people who could've excelled and contributed to society.

Neither. Opportunity cannot be made equal.
The child of a wealthy, politically connected family will have opportunities that very few others will have. The child of a poor, welfare-roll single parent in a poor area with high crimes and bad schools (no vouchers! thanks, Dems!) will have the worst opportunities.
What we should propose to guarantee is a minimum level of opportunity.
That would include access to public grade-school education, and should include the ability to apply for educational loans.
Because opportunity will never be equalized. There is too much dependence upon family circumstances to make opportunity equal.

Americans should be granted equal opportunity, not equal outcomes. If one student works harder in school and the other spends all his time partying, should they both be given the same job?
No.

Equal opportunity.
Equal outcome will end up in a why bother attitude, that is so prevalent in the welfare class. Sad, but true.

People should be given equal opportunity, not based on skin color, or where they are from.

Republicans want equal opportunity.
Democrats want equal outcomes (Socialism).
That is why Republicans have won the last 2 elections. The American people do not want a big, socialized government.
