My Wife filed for divorce and I counter-suited due to her unfair conditions in trying to labor me with all of her debt, including what she had amassed during our past 10 month seperation. My attorney did send me my notification for my scheduled court date, but my soon to be Ex-Wife happens to work for our local Postal Service and was running the very route I lived on and I did not get my notice in the Mail and I missed court. I believe she kept it from me and broke the law, however my attorney was sharp and kept me in phone conference during the whole hearing and I won my counter-suit. Since I won do I allow what she did to get an unfair advantage in court without me being there to speak in my own behalf, should I just let it go? If not...What could I do to prove it?

Is it true that if your only news source devotes only 6% of air time to a MAJOR negative news item, you will be more prone to support that item?

Other newscasts devote up to 20% of their air time to the Iraq occupation.

Is it "scaremongering" to report on the Iraq war?

Or is it "fair and balanced" to bury the issue in other news items?/

Is that "fair and balanced"? A HUGE agenda item with the American people. 6%?

By the way...I did used to watch Fox News...so don't come after me. I just decided that I didn't like their reporting methods. And Wild Bill O. gave me a headache every time his show was on. Yes...I did try to watch it...for a year or two even. I just couldn't take the foolish blathering.

Throughout school (in California), I was taught that American and British forces did most of the work in defeating the Germans in World War II (D-Day, etc.), but in fact the bulk of the German army was engaged on the eastern front with the Soviets. Why don't the Soviets get credit for defeating most of the German army?

They can have their votes of no confidence, but it's not going to make the determination about who serves in my government," Bush said in Sofia, Bulgaria, the last stop on a weeklong visit to Europe.

"This process has been drug out a long time," Bush added. "It's political."

The attorney general said he didn't plan on leaving anytime soon.

In the Senate, seven Republicans voted with Democrats to advance the no confidence resolution.

Even before the controversy over fired prosecutors, lawmakers of both parties complained that Gonzales allowed Justice to violate civil liberties on a host of other issues — such as implementing Bush's warrantless wiretapping program.

One veteran Republican said Gonzales had used up all his political capital in the Senate.

"There is no confidence in the attorney general..."

What on earth is going thru the President's head?

Hello could anybody please explain to me how the interests of corporations and governments differ concerning foreign takeovers? And I also was wondering if there any interest groups besides NDP and unions advocating tightening of the investment regulation? I would greatly appreciate if you could clarify these questions to me. Thank you.

"THE RSPCA has called on the State Government to recognise animal "hoarding" as a mental illness" from the Melbourne Age, 12 June 2007.

Why would the govenment take a position on what constitutes mental illness. Does the RSPCA really need more powers to inflict extra judicial punishments by having people forcibly restrained and taken into mental hospitals (I know of one person who was treated this way already).

Should the government regard compulsive lying as a mental illness, such as when the RSPCA made a series of ficticious reports of cockfighting in Victoria complete with photos which pre-date anti-cockfighting legislation.

If government officials and politicians are granted vast public powers and trust, shouldn't they be punished MORE then the common criminal who doesn't abuse or even have either of these things? With great power comes great responsibility, but why is there no incentive to hold these people accountable in a meaningful way? I mean, any aspiring criminal with half a brain will see getting into politics or government offices is safer, more profitable, and can be taken faaaaar father then a life of street crime.

I am buying a house in a new development in austin that everyone wants to get in, so the company held a lottery to setup a list of who would get first dibs on available lots. so i was told I drew #6, and i had a meeting with the builders, selected a lot, a basic house design, prequalified for a loan, signed the contract, and paid the earnest money. Then after arranging an appointment with the builder's designer for more specific exterior/interior colors, flooring, kitchen etc., my i get an e-mail from the builders saying they made a mistake and i was actually #126 on the list instead of #6. The e-mail said to stop payment on the earnest money check and that the builders would pay any stop payment fees and/or refund the earnest money.
Basically am i getting screwed? Is there anything we can do? I ask because we signed the contract but they builders are saying they didn't sign the contract so there is no contract. Does it make a difference that they cashed my earnest check?

I am scared, because maybe it's a trap...I fear that some guys kill me when I'm there, or maybe kidnap me and ask money to my family...

Plus I've just seen the movie " Lost Hearts", with Travolta and Salma Hayek...In this movie, several women are assassinated by a man who dates them ( with Hayek's help). The movie story happens in USA... So I just can't dare imagining what can happen in a dangerous country such as Colombia..

I already sent 3000 euros to this girl, because she said she had problems. And it was my terrible mistake...
If I don't go, I would have given 3000 euros for nothing...
If I go, I may be murdered...
I just can't trust her anymore, because she forgot my birthday, and because she is always busy with her job, because her cell phone doesn't work...

Can you give me some advice ?

Should I go ? And should I hire some bodyguards, and lose much more money ?..
