I am scared, because maybe it's a trap...I fear that some guys kill me when I'm there, or maybe kidnap me and ask money to my family...

Plus I've just seen the movie " Lost Hearts", with Travolta and Salma Hayek...In this movie, several women are assassinated by a man who dates them ( with Hayek's help). The movie story happens in USA... So I just can't dare imagining what can happen in a dangerous country such as Colombia..

I already sent 3000 euros to this girl, because she said she had problems. And it was my terrible mistake...
If I don't go, I would have given 3000 euros for nothing...
If I go, I may be murdered...
I just can't trust her anymore, because she forgot my birthday, and because she is always busy with her job, because her cell phone doesn't work...

Can you give me some advice ?

Should I go ? And should I hire some bodyguards, and lose much more money ?..

You've been scammed. Don't go. You'll be at best left waiting. At worst, robbed, held hostage, and/or killed.

She might be in Columbia, but this has the earmarks of a scam originating in west Africa.

I'll bet that the problems had to do with someone being in an accident, and/or someone needing medical care and the doctor/hospital wouldn't touch them for a life-threatening condition until they coughed up the money. Or, they did, and the "patient" was being held in the hospital until the bill was paid.

You can get support from others who have been similarly scammed through http://groups.yahoo.com/group/romancescams/

I've got several other links on this site that can give you help/advice. Also, there are free DVDs (in the US) available from http://www.usps.com/postalinspectors/dvdorder.htm

I'll bet you can find her picture on http://www.focusagencyhawaii.com/

Good god! Why in the world would you do such a thing? NEVER EVER send money to anyone you have never met in person or known for a long period of time. NEVER!!!! Columbia? yes, you should definitely go meet some "girl" you've never met in some dangerous country........IF YOU HAVE A DEATHWISH! I always say it's better safe than sorry. Just forget the 3000 euros and let it be a lesson learned. Don't go to Columbia. Get yourself a nice girl in the area and move on with your life. This world is just too corrupted to be taking any chances like that. Besides, for all you know "she" probably doesn't exist in reality....with the internet being what it is today, you just don't know!!!!

Here is some advice. Don't go!
People get kidnapped for money all the time in other countries. Look at the 3000 euros as a small portion of what it would cost you to keep seeing this woman, or worse getting mugged or beat up over there. Scam. Walk away.

First, DO NOT GO! Meeting people on the 'net is dangerous enough, but don't compound it by showing people how stupid you are. I have a friend who is "dating" a girl in the Philipines. As I understand it, once you go there and have sex with the girl, they have people watching while you get your "money's worth" out of the experience and then they threaten to blackmail you (either she's suddenly too young or whatever).
If you go, there will be no end of trouble. This isn't about distrusting foreigners, it's more about being smart about your body and belongings.

Don't hire bodyguards. Just don't go. Meet a woman on your own turf who has the same value system that you have. You don't even know that there is a woman over there, it might be a man posing. Many people disappear in Columbia never to be heard from again. It is a different place and culture than you are used to.

There are many cases like yours where people scam others over the internet. In some countries it's even considered a business for women who can't do much else. Therefore, no, you shouldn't go. Many things could happen to you, and it's way too dangerous. If you don't trust her, don't go!

The only thing you can due is chalk up the lost money to a learning experience - never send someone money you have not met.

Don't go to Colombia and meet this person. You're asking for trouble if you do. Forget it and move on.

You have been scamed. Nightline did a story on this not to long ago and it sounds just like yours. The woman is probably not really in Columbia. If you send me her email address I can tell you where she really is. A lot of these types of scams come from
Africa. She probably fed you a line like she needs an operation or has medical problems or she needs money for her family. It sucks that this happens but it's very common.

Consider this a lesson and forget about the 3000 euros--go on with your life and find another girl/woman friend.

Obviously since you're having to ask this question, you shouldn't go since your doubting yourself. How things are today and things, you never know. I wouldn't go by myself. It might not even be a girl.. maybe some psycho or something. if you think it's best not to go, then don't go. If you wanna go, be very careful. It sounds like a normal girl, but if you can't talk to her via 1 on 1, or any contact with her, then it's not worth it. That place isn't very safe.. so if you want my opinion.. don't go. Be safe and make a wise choice!
