Is it true that if your only news source devotes only 6% of air time to a MAJOR negative news item, you will be more prone to support that item?

Other newscasts devote up to 20% of their air time to the Iraq occupation.

Is it "scaremongering" to report on the Iraq war?

Or is it "fair and balanced" to bury the issue in other news items?/

Is that "fair and balanced"? A HUGE agenda item with the American people. 6%?

By the way...I did used to watch Fox News...so don't come after me. I just decided that I didn't like their reporting methods. And Wild Bill O. gave me a headache every time his show was on. Yes...I did try to watch it...for a year or two even. I just couldn't take the foolish blathering.

To all of the Fox News supporters saying the EXACT SAME THING "What else is there to report?":

Isn't that the majority of news. Murders, kidnappings, Paris, Anna Nicole, Weather, etc....it's all the same stuff everyday over and over. How you can you say a soldier, the troops you claim that we hate and you love, is just old news and depressing? Shouldn't these soldiers deserve more then 6 percent of an hours airtime to the war?

I swear, the people of the right will defend ANYTHING. I can't believe you people don't see what Fox News is doing. It's as clear as day. You have to know that Fox News is very biased and the LEAST "fair and balanced" news network of any of the major networks. But I don't hear you complaining when Fox News does 20 minutes teasing Hillary Clinton about her southern accent incident.

Iraq is one of the biggest stories of our life time and Fox News, the biggest and possibly only supporter of the war of all the media outlets, only allows 6% of airtime on it's news cast. That is how Fox News keeps it's viewers in the dark about so many important information.

And did ya read, that FOX reports good news from Iraq twice as much as the other networks.

So if Fox reported 100% good news, that means that the other networks only would be reporting good news from Iraq 3% of the time.

Now I don't know about you, but that 3% would be 15% of their total Iraq news coverage.

So it seems the other networks report Bad news from Iraq 85% of the time and good news just 15% of the time.

Does that make the other networks seem fair and balanced to you ??

Seems like the report slams all networks for not being fair or balanced.

Now don't it ?

But for some reason, you believe that the only news source that Republicans get news from, is Fox News.

While the majority of Fox news viewers are Republicans, viewership of Fox news is only about 8 million viewers.

That leaves out the other 48 million people who voted for Bush in 2004.

So evidently they watch other news programs.

Much depends upon how you view the coverage of the subject. If you feel it's not covered sufficiently, you should find an outlet that covers the subject to your satisfaction. That's called freedom.
Scaremongering goes after the ugly and sensational parts of a story.
Fair and balanced coverage tries to present as much of the positive as well as the negative parts of a story as possible on an equal footing given the time allotted. It's just not possible to put 24 hours of a day into 30 minutes of time. You have to pick and choose.
A journalistic pursuit tries to present as much of the story as possible within their paradigm. Different outlets have different "story lines" or themes that they want to pursue and they will phrase their stories within those themes.
The reasoning behind people's viewing is entirely up to them. Every news outlet tries to "play" to their viewers and draw as many from other outlets as possible. That's called competition and the freedom to choose.
Those who don't like a station or network are welcome not to watch or listen.
This is the United States of America, not Venezuela, Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia.
Still, you're free to gripe in this, the most wonderful nation on Gods green earth. (Yes, I borrowed that last phrase from you-know-who.)

Fox News reports more in their 6%. The 14% more time the liberal networks devote is run through the spin-cycle so that they can tell you what and how to think. Fox reports the news with facts and doesn't need all the other fluff to draw an audience, hence Fox News rated #1.

So. . . What's the question?

I base my opinions on what I believe is right and wrong. Not what CNN, Fox, ABC, NBC, CBS, etc, tells me to believe and not believe. Ones that allow the news networks to dictate their views are the ones that are mindless sheep.

Just my opinion. . .

Fox News are liberals anyway, they just aren't as open about it as the Crescent News Network and broadcast stations. Owner Rupert Murdoch is supporting Hilary for president, that should tell you something.

Good article with more hard evidence that Fox News is not news, it's the propaganda arm of the Republican Party. They twist the news and limit coverage to manipulate sheepish and limited minds.

What more is there to report? Endless bombings, the people in the MidEast support the Islamists, and we are there trying to do the impossible-Westernize them. Why we are trying to help these people when they spit in our faces is beyond me.
