With the indictment now filed, will Democrat leadership ask Rep. Jefferson to resign from the House? After all, they've demanded resignations from Republicans for far less.

Boston Police tickets for moving violations reference a statute that only applies to flashing red light and stop sign intersections, neither of which applies to a "steady circular red" indication.

MGL c.89 s.9, cited by Boston Police citation books as "red light violation." There seems to be no other statute.

First, lets stop calling them farmers. They are not farmers, They are growers, producers. Farmers care for the land, care for the animals. Growers, producers do not care for either of them or for the people who do the labor for them. These producers are taking advantage of the cheap labor. They are essentially slave owners. They do not provide benefits, decent wages to the workers. They do not provide comfortable working conditions either.
Stop this Immigration Reform Bill, it is a legal document allowing big business to use slave labor at the cost of American security and National Soverignity.

It sounds crazy, I know, but I just finished a job reading high school essays from the state of North Carolina, and I was shocked by how many students believed that Iraq was responsible for 9-11. Is it their fault for being so ignorant, or have they been tricked by the administration and goofball conservative media like Limbaugh, Hannity, Fox News etc?

Hello! My name is Amanda and I’m a junior at Umass Lowell. I’m a music education major. I never was that interested in politics but now as I’m getting older I’m finding myself more and more interested.
Is there a book that you know of that is a good intro to politics that isn’t a textbook?
At this point, I also don’t even know what I would be considered, democrat or republican! I need some help! I'm looking for a book that isn't too biased (but of course, bias is almost inevitable..) :-)

Any help is much appreciated!! Thank you so much!!

~Amanda

Dear Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, National Guard,
Reservists, in Iraq , in the Middle East theater, in Afghanistan , in
the area near Afghanistan , in any base anywhere in the world, and your
famil ies:
Let me tell you about why you guys own about 90 percent of the
backbone in the whole world right now and should be happy with
yourselves and proud of whom you are.
It was a dazzlingly hot day here in Rancho Mirage today. I did
small errands like going to the bank to pay my mortgage, finding a new
bed at a price I can afford, practicing driving with my new 5 wood,
paying bills for about two hours. I spoke for a long time to a woman
who is going through a nasty child custody fight I got e-mails from a
woman who was fired today from her job for not paying attention. I
read about multi-billion- dollar mergers in Europe, Asia , and the
Mideast . I noticed how overweight I am, for the millionth time. In
other words, I did a lot of nothing.
Like every other American who is not in the armed forces family,
I basically just rearranged the deck chairs on the Titanic in my
trivial, self-important, meaningless way.
Above all, I talked to a friend of more than forty-three years
who told me he thought his life had no meaning because all he did was
count his money. And, friends in the armed forces, this is the story
of all of America today. We are doing nothing but treading water while
you guys carry on the life or death struggle against worldwide
militant Islamic terrorism. Our lives are about nothing: paying bills,
going to humdrum jobs, waiting until we can go to sleep and then do it
all again. Our most vivid issues are trivia compared with what you do
every day, every minute, every second.
Oprah Winfrey talks a lot about "meaning" in life For her,
"meaning" is dieting and then having her photo on the cover of her
magazine every single month (surely a new world record for egomania).
This is not "meaning."
Meaning is doing for others.
Meaning is risking your life for hers
Meaning is putting your bodies and families' peace of mind on the
line to defeat some of the most evil, sick killers the world has ever
known.
Meaning is leaving the comfort of home to fight to make sure that
there still will be a home for your family and for your nation and for
free men and women everywhere.
Look, soldiers and Marines and sailors and airmen and Coast
Guardsmen, there are six billion people in this world. The whole fate
of this world turns on what you people, 1.4 million, more or less, do
every day. The fate of mankind depends on what about 2/100 of one
percent of the people in this world do every day and you are those
people. And joining you is every policeman, fireman, and Emergency
Medical Technician in the country, also holding back the tide of chaos.
Do you know how important you are? Do you know how indispensable
you are? Do you know how humbly grateful any of us who has a head on
his shoulders is to you? Do you know that if you never do another
thing in your lives, you will always still be heroes? That we could
live without Hollywood or Wall Street or the NFL, but we cannot live
for a week without you?
We are on our knees to you and we bless and pray for you every
moment.
And Oprah Winfrey, if she were a size two, would not have one
millionth of your importance, and all of the Wall Street billionaires
will never mean what the least of you do, and if Barry Bonds hits
hundreds of home runs it would not mean as much as you going on one
patrol or driving one truck to the Baghdad airport.
You are everything to us, as we go through our little days, and
you are in the prayers of the nation and of every decent man and woman
on the planet. That's who you are and what you mean. I hope you know that.
Love,
Ben Stein

Remember when the FBI first searched his office and home? the GOP was outraged. Hastert and Delay DEMANDED all item be returned to Jefferson. They even held hearings. They complained to Bush and the Justice dept. What did the GOP NOT want the FBI to find, and how many GOP members will he bring down with him?

And it was clearly not a privacy issue from the party that brought us Big Brother, the PAT ACT, and warrantless wiretapping.

After the US leaves and the violence is lessened enough for serious reconstruction efforts to take place. Should reconstruction efforts be duel monitered closely by the countries where in it's taking place and by some other N.G.O.? Maybe a new one based on making reconstruction efforts as rapid, sustainible, affordible and of the highest quality possible and to moniter for curruption fraud and waste? Are there any N.G.O.'s like this already? Would this be a way to shape up reconstruction efforts as much as possible? What else would do it better then it's being done today?

We neglected the borders, so now we've got millions of people who can't be torn out without disrupting our economy, and we're in a war, so that would not be so great. The current bill tosses out anyone who doesn't work or has committed a crime since they got here and fines everyone else very heavily ($5,000 is huge money when you are working a job that doesn't require a high school diploma--that will be painful to pay off and is definitely a punishment for coming illegally). I am not kidding--what do conservatives want? Anything short of going house-to-house and deporting everyone (which WILL hurt the economy) is called "amnesty." I am really asking. What do they want?? What is the great threat in acknowledging we were stupid to leave borders unprotected and expect no one to come over when we're next to a poor country where people know they can die of treatable diseases? Are we willing to risk the balance of our economy in a war just to throw poor people back into even greater poverty?
