I have (well, had) a great teacher who one day simply didn't come in to class. He has been gone for about a week now. The administration says that he "had a break down" because one of his classes was extremely bad, but inside sources say that he left because the administration forced him. The school has had similar problems ever since the administration changed last year. I want to go to the press with the school's corruption, does anybody know what evidence I will need to allow the news to report on what's happening?

Anyone know anything about Machinery Technician (MK) in the coast guard reserves? Is it true they would train you on working with engines? Anyone know if positions are guaranteed in CG or no? The website says 12 weeks in Yorktown, VA, *or* on the job training, has anyone ever gotten on the job training for this position instead and where at?

Well I find this questionable - believe it or not X-ray scanners { yes X-ray scanners } are being considered to be used in the streets of the U.S. and in England to find a terrorist in a crowd . The X-ray scanners can see right threw your clothes but I suppose this is all in the name of security so I guess its fine , or is it ?

See link - http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/6309917.stm

Question - Is this going too far or would you welcome this to tract a suspected terrorist ?

These are our inalienable rights under the Declaration of Independence signed on July 4, 1776. Why did our forefathers put the word "pursuit" before happiness? Simple, the government does not guarantee your happiness.
You're on your own on that one.

Universal Health Care, a la Hillary, would be a complete disaster to our ecomony. Yet, some people think it is a God-given right, and not a privilege.

How about this: don't buy the biggest house, the SUV, every toy available (boat, vacation home, RV, off-road racers, etc.), stop shopping for the latest trends ...

Instead, save, invest, work your money, so you can buy insurance and be grateful that the MD you end up seeing actually wants to practice medicine and wasn't brought into med school on affirmative action.

If American businesses are to be internationally successful other countries have to buy them. Our military doesn't seem to be capable of that much, we haven't made Iraq better and we probably wouldn't even be able to hold our own there if it weren't for the militaries of other countries. We're not the most populous, we're not the most rich, and we don't even have the largest movie industry (Bollywood in India does).

So where is this superpower status coming from?

I am of the belief that our nation must rid itself of affirmative action. We must progress not through special treatment but by the very talent and willingness to endure to achieve in our society. We cannot give free rides to those who are not on par with others. If you want something then fight for it. Don't expect that what you desire shall be handed to you. Our nation was founded by doers, so to must we go forth and do. Learn the skill you'll need to achieve greatness. Take the time to study and not simply watch tv or listen to music. In short, step up to the plate and get to it! Achievements don't happen by themselves...

It supports that the "personal attack" rule and the "political editorial" rule, remain in practice. The "personal attack" is that whenever a person or small group is subject to a character attack during a broadcast, stations had to notify such persons or groups within a week of the attack, send them transcripts of what was said and offer the opportunity to respond on the air. The "political editorial" rule is when a station broadcast editorials endorsing or opposing candidates for public office, and stipulated that the candidates not endorsed be notified and allowed a reasonable opportunity to respond.

Who watched a 91 yr old man get beat? Who takes the word of the media on whether there is enough National Guard to protect us? Someone is that "who" - we can not all be innocent. The media says there is enough state but not enough federal & "we" agree. Will America let the media pick our president? The media seems to tell us how to think - we should trust as our president? should we trust our military? are the Duke lacrosse players guilty, no wait they are innocent?
The media seems to tell us how to think & what to think.
Did the Constitution say we trust the media or did it just say they could print any lie??

My old friend Merle Haggard did. Does anyone else, besides Merle & me, wish they lived in Muscogee?

We don't smoke marijuana in Muskogee;
We don't take no trips on LSD
We don't burn no draft cards down on Main Street;
We like livin' right, and bein' free.

I'm proud to be an Okie from Muskogee,
A place where even squares can have a ball
We still wave Old Glory down at the courthouse,
And white lightnin's still the biggest thrill of all

We don't make a party out of lovin';
We like holdin' hands and pitchin' woo;
We don't let our hair grow long and shaggy,
Like the hippies out in San Francisco do.

Leather boots are still in style for manly footwear;
Beads and Roman sandals won't be seen.
Football's still the roughest thing on campus,
And the kids here still respect the college dean.

Sounds like my kinda town. I wish there still were places like this in America, but it seems that even the most Conservative states have been infected by the Hippie culture. I don’t want to go downtown and have my children see two guys holding hands. I don’t want my son smoking pot. I don’t want my daughter practicing “safe sex”. I don’t want her practicing ANY sex until she is married.

Does anyone else here long for the 1950’s again? Does anyone else wish they could live in Muskogee?

Teacher. For yesterday's exams, I was one of the examiners. Thought my timetable said 1 o' clock when it was 10 o'clock. No show. The boss called, livid as hell. She pointed out that I had made a grave professional error and she could not overlook it. Still, I didn't think I would get fired. I wrote a letter of apology to all the other teachers and included her. She'd had to examine the students for me, so I accepted total responsibility and said there was no excuse, but stressing that I made a mistake...meaning that I didn't NOT SHOW UP on purpose. She emailed me yesterday with a notice for a 2 o'clock meeting today. Today she told me my contract was to be terminated once I completed and submited my marking, and it will not be renewed; that it's a very serious mistake and she could not pardon it; that I am unreliable, etc. Frankly, I do not think of myself as an unreliable person. Quite the contrary. I erred. And I appreciate that my mistake was serious, but... Like I said, mortified

I have a 60-year-old aunt who lives alone, a few miles outside of town. She can't drive because she lost her sight in one eye, so she has a friend who brings her groceries and things.

My aunt smokes marijuana in her home.

What she does is illegal. Why? Who is she harming?
Hers truly is a victimless crime.

Do you think it is right to criminalize her? Explain.
