I believe the most recent politician to make that remark was Zell Miller of Georgia.
Long before Zell Miller's démarche, Ronald Reagan -- a Roosevelt Democrat who re-registered as a Republican in 1962 -- followed a similar course, explaining, "I didn't leave the Democratic Party; the Democratic Party left me."

Yes Regan did say that. There have been others since then there was senator from Texas that resign the senate as a Democrat then ran as a Republican because of the policies of the Democrat party. He won as a Republican. Then there was more that quit the Democrats but I can't name them. As for the Liberal that says the G.O.P. is against the middle class. Look at the facts each time the Democrats wants to raise taxes the on the rich the taxes on the middle class goes up to. Clinton for example said that he was going to raise the taxes on the rich yet those who made thirty thousand a year had their taxes raised (since when is thirty thousand rich). Now Democrats call the G.O.P. neocons because of the war in Iraq and because we were attacked on 9/11. Where their favorite President ran away from the people who attacked in '93. Or when we was attacked the other four times during his administration. He did not do a thing until after he lied in front of a grand jury and was caught.

He particularly meant that the dem's moved too close to to to the middle for him. i think of of a greater infamous quote with the aid of Uncle Ronnie replaced into: "I never met a millionaire i did not like". That somewhat plenty summed him up.

yes, democrat politicians have strongly strayed from what they used to stand for. But so have the Republicans over the past decade. Reagan was the last true Conservative to hold the presidency. Hopefully we can get a new one soon.

Reagan did say that. The current democratic party is not the democratic party of FDR or even of JFK. It has moved very far to the left.

It is yet another RR lie. the democratic party never left the middle class, while he attempted to destroy it. If it wasn't for a democratic congress during his administration his reign of terror would have been a lot worst.

You have often said democrats are traitors, commies and anti-American.
Are you saying now that Ronald Reagan was a traitor, communist and anti-American?

I am pretty sure you are correct. Even if he wasn't the one who said it, it's true anyway.
