I have known a number of people that are so against the idea of having to register/license their guns. They say it's against their rights, etc.. That the gov't shouldn't know every little thing about them, etc.

At the same time, people have to get a dog license, register their car, etc etc. WHY on earth should people not have to register their Deadly Weapon!?!?

I have known people that go against the law of registering firearms, etc.. Now, shouldn't those same people be against registering their car, etc?

As for the whole idea of why people need to own certain types of guns anyway.. That's a whole other question.. :)

In this nation we have Republicans fighting for Republican, Democrats fighting for Democrats, Blacks fighting for Blacks, Whites fighting for Whites, Latino fighting for Latino, Asian fighting for Asian, and all the private industries fighting for themselves.

Who’s fighting for the US Constitution and Bill of Rights?
Who’s fighting for old glory?

"In this time of anguish, I hope you know that people all over this country are thinking about you and asking God to provide comfort for all who have been affected."

Let's ignore the context of that quote from our pal George W Bush (the recent Virginia shootings) and ask ourselves this question:

* Should religion be allowed to influence the governing of a country? *

Before anyone goes off on a rant- read this: I'm NOT saying that politcal leaders should not be allowed to have personal religious beliefs. I'm sure that such beliefs would affect a person's thinking on some level, but should a leader be allowed to act as the voice of a country and make major decisions affecting that country based on those beliefs? Surely a good leader should be as unbiased as possible? By all means, they should tell us if they have beliefs when they run for election, but surely they shouldn't run the country, everyone's country, to suit their PERSONAL beliefs?

I found a search warrant in a bag of donated clothes. Could I be in trouble for having it? Or if I showed it to other people? It was issued about a year ago for a currently unsolved murder case.

Six years ago when I was 18, I was arrested for soliciting a prostitute who turned out to be a cop. I was ordered to serve three days of community service but served only one. Now I need to bring documentation about the disposition of the case to INS to qualify for a green card. If I go to the police station (in the next state) , can I expect to be held in incarceration for failure to fully comply? What else can I do?

Do you believe that the tragedy at Virginia Tech could have been avoided if Cho's professors had done more than just refer him to on campus counseling? Based on two short plays he had written which the media has gotten a hold of, it seems obvious that he was seriously emotionally disturbed.

I kept seeing "neo liberal" as a derogatory term, and being a liberal, I looked it up. After reading on Wikipedia, I guess I am a neo liberal as well, but I am wondering, if there is an alternate meaning for conservatives, because it sounds like a conservative value? And I'm looking for thoughtful, polite and referenced answers please!

"Neoliberalism is a label for economic liberalism that describes government policies aiming to promote free competition among business firms within market, notably liberalization and monetarism.

Neoliberalism promotes a stable currency, a balanced budget, free market capitalism, and free trade. Characteristic aspects include expansion of the market to a 24-hour global trading cycle, contract maximalization, increase in the frequency of contracts, continuous assessment, and derivative markets."

My daughter's father is an alcoholic mess. He has put our life in danger on more than one occassion and has tried to commit suicide two times in the past six months. He does it for attention to try to get us back, but it's not happening. Can the court take away his parental rights? He is not willing to do that, but I don't want my daughter to grow up with him as her father.

I was in sales of high dollar new homes. I left 6 weeks ago and my past employer has not removed my name from the voice mail system. Some customers have called leaving a message not knowing I have left, and expected a return call from me. Some prospects have met my previous employeer at a home show and asked where I was. He did not tell them I no longer worked there. I feel this is deceptive and places my name in a bad light. My feeling is they are afraid they will lose sales once prospects realize I am gone.

Also, I do not have a no compete agreement. Am I allowed to call my past customers and prospects to let them know I have left? I feel I owe it to them and they are not being taken care of. Am I allowed to tell them where I work? I did take new employment with a competitor.
