of course not. it's not the weapon that causes the harm, it's the person behind the weapon.

Your analogy is totally washed up. Better brush up on your debating skills, dude.
1)Kitchen knives have another, innocent purpose besides killing people. You can't use a gun to make dinner.
2)No way could you go into a classroom and kill 33 people with 1 kitchen knife. By the time you stabbed the first guy, then yanked the knife out of his chest, someone could easily tackle you. Kitchen knives are not a very efficient means of killing humans. Automatic weapons, on the other hand, can kill dozens of people in mere seconds.

The analogy might not be flawless, but the point is valid.Sure a Kitchen knife is far less effective at mass murder than a gun. However,if a student, faculty,or on-site security were on scene and armed,This tragedy could have had a much different outcome. The problem is that the real source of worry is not the machine but the maniac behind it.And that maniac is,Unfortunately nearly impossible to control. How many people saw this mans decent into madness and did nothing, said nothing. This type of separation from reality doesn't happen overnight people!Somebody saw this.Somebody watched him fall. And somebody is going to have to live with that for the rest of their lives. The only thing we can do is watch our friends and neighbors, get to know them, and hope we catch the next one before he snaps

The gun that is so easy to get and destroys so easily is the problem. People figure that if they get weapons then you'd better watch out., they'll do what they want and very seldom gets caught before the slaughter. It would be quite hard to kill 30 some people with kitchen knives before they would be brought down and stopped. when these people do give off warning signs with their behavior, they are ignored. Then innocent people pay with their life.

"in case you outlaw gun the only ones with weapons would be outlaws." Its a real statememt by way of fact if weapons are unlawful than a typical citizen won't have one, yet those people who're criminals won't have a issue geting one by way of fact they're already criminals. Than you haven't any longer something. Personaly once I turn 18 next year I plan on paying for a handgun for homestead protection. human beings do use handguns for cover nevertheless in recent times, and its ignorant to think of that folk do no longer. In a topic the place a maniac comes into your place brandishing a pistol, might you quite might desire to offer your self with protection with a baeball bat or a pistol, in my view i might pick to be on the comparable taking part in field by way of fact the maniac. and you do no longer hear approximately human beings protecting themselves by way of fact thats a sense reliable tale, the media isn't fascinated in sense reliable memories. they pick to scare you as much as accessible and push there own time table (liberal or in any different case). i'm a democrat from maryland i've got self assurance this, so do no longer say "oh your purely a loopy redneck conservative" by way of fact i'm no longer, I come from a kin of attorneys and white collar workers, and that i've got self assurance that I must be waiting to guard that kin via any skill neccesary

Glad to see I'm not the only person angered and afraid of some of the crazy talk and so called "solutions" people have for what happened in Virginia.

Of course honest law-abiding gun owners will be the first attacked- but even more worrisome is talk about restricting other freedoms.

I agree. If people don't feel comfortable with a gun around then they shouldn't have one around... but why make good civilians give up their gun? All that does is make us vunerable to the government and to the criminals out there since they are gonna get a hold of whatever they want anyway.

Guns make killing easier. They do not cause killing.

Somehow, most people seem to miss that point.
