Hmm. How much is left of the ideal of people choosing the best candidate, compared to them being spun into choosing the best-presented or least-smeared candidate?

This is in response to the guy who said liberals hate the rich. We don't. We just believe in equality of economic opportunity. Every person regardless of social class should be given the opportunity to succeed. You do this with such things as the GI Bill for soldiers, state subsidized universities, student grants, subsidized loans, job training, etc. To protect against aristocracy in America, taxes to pay for these programs are shifted towards those who can most afford it.

Without policies that level the playing field the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

What happens when the gap between the rich and poor becomes too great? You get such things as the French and Russian Revolutions where the poor kill the rich.

"All privileges based on wealth, and all emnity to honest men merely because they are wealthy, are un-American."
- Thedore Roosevelt

For everyone else: April 30, 2006

I thought peace and allies makes a Nation stronger. What is with these so-called war crazy Conservatives labeling every Muslim Nation an enemy and sponsor of terror? The only reason that peace has not prevailed is because Bush insists on cutting off dialog and making wars instead.

Pelosi goes over and visits Syria and she gets Iran to release U.K.'s soldiers. She also is getting Syria to talk about peace with Israel.

The fact is that she went over to talk and get things done instead of putting pressure on and causing a war to begin!

You see Con's, she is making progress and she is getting things done. The only reason you people cry about it and yell foul is because you want to exterminate every member of Islam!

Allies and negotiations with meaningful dialog don't make a country weaker, they create peace and stability. Something you wouldn't know about.

How to come out of a situation, looking far more dignified and justified than the opposing side that you're up against, without even dirtying your hands. I for one will be paying more attention to what he and his people say in future. I now have respect for something that before I really didn't give a damn about. Anyone else have anything to say on this matter?
