"It's something that many conservative don't seen to get.

They think that if they're not allowed to force their beliefs down everyone else's throats, somehow their rights are infringed.

What they don't understand is that the whole point of the Constitution is to prevent the majority from forcing their beliefs (especially religious beliefs) upon others as a matter of law. "

Bravo coragryph!

Just because it is sactioned by the state isnt any less than what it is, they are taking a life. When it is broadcast over the news it says another inmate lost their life tonight. They didnt lose it It was taken away just like their victims!!! I dont believe that killing someone is the way to go. I will never sit on a jury.!!! Only God has the right to judge. Why not bill the family for the last meal or ever the cost of the drugs to kill them???Have we become so inhumane that we can sleep easy knowing that we as Ameericansd are allowing this to continue..What happened to the American Conscience.???We have already lost the constitution

See the lengths they're willing to go to, the back-asswards arguments they're willing to make, to avoid admitting the obvious, that tax revenues are coming in not only higher than they were but higher than expected and rising at a faster rate than before.

There's no debating this. There are (a) what tax revenues were, (b) what they were projected to be with the tax cuts, (c) what they were projected to be without the tax cuts, and (d) what tax revenues actually are. If (d) is the highest and Fed policy is neutral or restrictive, then the tax cuts paid for themselves. PERIOD.

And that's what has happened. Meanwhile SPENDING is up by 3.5 TIMES CPI. We KNOW cutting that to 2X solves the problem - why not just do that???

And it's NOT true that revenue always goes up - it FELL when Bush '41 raised taxes! And it WAS JFK's tax cuts - he proposed them, then he DIED, then LBJ pushed JFK's proposed legislation through. LBJ's effort but JFK's idea.

"Secondary school pupils in north-eastern Nigeria have killed a teacher after apparently accusing her of desecrating the Koran, police say.

At least 15,000 people have been killed in religious, communal or political violence since the country returned to civilian rule in 1999. "

And you say that the children are not down with religious extremism? Christian teachers are being killed for consfiscating a Koran that was being read by a pupil during class. How do you people really compare Islam to Christianity, christianity doenst kill 15,000 people in 7 years in one area just for doing something to the bible.

How can the liberals claim there is no religious extremism.

And I dont want to hear Bush's name on this post even once, focus on the subject matter here.

They have sent a letter saying that they are going to press legal action on me within 10 days of reciving this letter, in the letter they tell me to call to see if an out of court can be arranged, my question is I have not been able to find steady work and what work I do find its not steady at all and make enough to survive. I own nothing to my name. If this does go to court and they do pass judgement can I go to jail? What can they do with me not having a steady job right now? Any help would be greatly appricated.

A hot topic for anyone who takes a political science class, the thought always lingers, especially in todays environment. Would the US be better off initiating a mandatory military service draft? Let's compare with the State of Israel. Men and women are drafted at age 18. Generally, 3 years is required of you and afterwards, you remain in reserve into your 50's. Why is it we don't hear of complaints of serving their county? Is it because they are surrounded by unfriendly people, who are sworn to drive them into the sea? Are there no complaints because Israel consists mainly of Jews, people with a common religion who know what is expected of them, to defend the Promised Land and their people? Does it work because Israel is a small country with close people, compared to America's large mass of culturally different people? Never mind the current conflict the has divided and confused Americans, but think of the general idea of it. What do you think?

The two most important events in environmental policy in the last fifty years have been the creation of the EPA and the Clean Air Act, the result of implementation of which are described in the article below.

Nixon, a Republican, created the EPA.

Bush Sr., a Republican, pushed for and signed the Clean Air Act - - - there were disagreements over some of the details but nobody can argue that this was done over his objection, rather he was very supportive.

Sometimes there are disagreements over how quickly to increase the standards for emissions control from various industries and vehicles but the bar has always been raised, not lowered. The air is cleaner now than it was when Bush '43 took office - at least it is HERE - just not in China....

So, I guess I'm just not seeing any basis for the popular notion that US cities would look like Bangkok were it not for the Democrats.

ange Type Size Bill aims to break migration deadlock
Reforms could help ease way to citizenship for 12 million
Mike Madden
Republic Washington Bureau
Mar. 23, 2007 12:00 AM

WASHINGTON - A new immigration-reform bill introduced in the House on Thursday tries to duck the partisan stalemate that doomed similar legislation last year by being tougher in some ways and more generous in others for immigrants and employers alike.

The bill would delay any new benefits for foreign workers until the federal government has improved border security. It also would require undocumented immigrants to leave the United States briefly and re-enter before they would be eligible for citizenship.

But those requirements would be balanced against the promise of legal status for about 12 million people living here illegally now, along with an easier system for employers to verify that workers are eligible for jobs and a new visa allowing up to 400,000 foreign workers to come here temporarily each year. advertisement

Supporters hope that, taken together, the bill's provisions will break years of deadlock over immigration by drawing support from both Democrats and Republicans.

A similar bill the Senate passed last year stalled in the run-up to midterm elections.

"This bill will end illegal immigration," said Rep. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., the proposal's chief co-sponsor along with Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill. He noted that a sweeping immigration-reform measure adopted in 1986 did not accomplish that goal.

Supporters of immigration reform believe they have their best chance of passing legislation in years with Democrats in control of Congress and the White House pressing hard for GOP allies to sign on to the bill. But difficulties lie ahead for reformers, who had expected the Senate to take up immigration well before the House did. Negotiations in the Senate have bogged down as Republicans work with the White House to craft a proposal that can attract wide GOP support.

Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., is still talking with Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., his chief partner on immigration reform in recent years, but they haven't come to an agreement.

McCain, who is running for president, has heard widespread criticism on immigration from Republican voters. He said recently that supporters of last year's bill didn't focus enough on border security. A McCain spokeswoman said McCain was glad to see the new bill introduced.

Few people had read the entire 700-page proposal Thursday, but lobbyists, community activists and Democratic leaders in Congress mostly called it promising.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said the new bill provides "an excellent framework" for immigration legislation. Community organizers behind many of last spring's immigration protest marches said they hope the bill will help move the debate along.

Civil rights groups responded to the bill, as well.

"Enforcement-only tactics such as anti-immigrant local ordinances and work-site raids have done nothing to curb undocumented immigration, but they have hurt local economies and caused suffering for American families," said Janet Murguía, president of the National Council of La Raza, the nation's largest Latino advocacy organization.

A requirement that undocumented immigrants leave the country and re-enter legally proved controversial when it was added to last year's Senate bill, but advocates for immigrants said they could live with it if it eases the bill's passage.

Immigrants seeking legal status would have six years to comply, and they could leave and return through any border entry point without going back to their home countries.

"Nothing in the outlines appears to be a deal breaker yet," said John Gay, a senior vice president at the National Restaurant Association, one of several powerful business groups pushing for reform.

But the tougher provisions added to the bill did little to placate longtime critics.

"They keep changing the shade of lipstick, but like I've said time and time again, it's still the same old pig," said Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., who is running for the GOP presidential nomination on a fiercely anti-illegal-immigration platform.

The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps called the bill a "lawbreaker assistance program."

I didn't fill in the name of the driver (under section 172) because I felt sure that no one else had my car that day but at the TIME given on the speeding ticket, I feel pretty certain I was still in an interview, so my car would have been parked. I raised this point with the Police and sent along my evidence to prove I had an interview that day at 10am that lasted an hour, hence why a ticket at 11.02 would have been tricky, even in that area. However, I've now been given a court date for not completing who was driving at the TIME of the alleged offence. Had I filled in to say I was driving, that's then making a false statement (incurring fines up to £1000) when I didn't believe it to be true; by not filling it in because I don't know, I'm still facing court. Heads you lose, tails you lose. Any advice?

That every single president since atleast FDR could have said the same thing while he was president?

Every single president could have also said real GDP was at an all time high when he was president. Natural population growth and technological advances that lead to market growth, mean that GDP and tax revenues grow in general with time.

HOWEVER, if you take the percent increase in real GDP from the time a president takes control till the time he leaves, you would see Democrats are indeed better for the economy. FDR, JFK, LBJ, and Clinton outperformed Reagan and Bush Jr in practically every category that I know. But don't take my word for it. Google online for government historical stats and calculate these percent increases yourselves. You will see I am correct.
