A Senate committee approved a $122 billion measure Thursday financing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan but also defying President Bush by calling on him to pull combat troops out of Iraq by next spring.

The bill, approved by a voice vote, is similar to one the House began debating Thursday. Both measures have drawn veto threats from the White House, which has said Congress must allow more time for the U.S. troop increase in Iraq to work.

Republicans on the Senate Appropriations Committee had hoped to delete the withdrawal language. But facing likely defeat, they decided to postpone that effort until the full Senate takes up the spending measure, as early as Monday. The Iraq war is on it's way out. The war will be over and the troops will come home.

We all know that many democratic politicians would love to rip into the fact that Bush and his admin. were behind 9/11. That would give a democratic nominee a good 90% chance to be our next president.

So if there is such powerful evidence that 9/11 was set up and Bush was involved, then why is no one going for it?

The reality behind this all is even if there were powerful enough evidence to make a case out of it. With all of the sheep following this loose change belief it would give at least a 20% jump in a democratic possible president in 2008....

So why is no one even trying to present the case to the courts?

I will be fair and give them the minimum wage but aside from that?
well ok the 10% rate but they have taken that away now anyway.
working tax credits i suppose but aside from that? fastest growing G7 economy? ban on fox hunting i suppose but I mean aside from that 2 million less unemployed people then under the tories well yes but aside from that what has labour done?
basically aside from the minimum wage, working tax credits, strong economy with no recesions, independance for the bank of england, devolution for scotland an wales, low unemployment, banning fox hunting, increased spending in health and education and the banning of smoking in pubs and this so called reduction to 20% basic in come tax rate what has labour actually done for the people of the UK?

I don't think it's right for the government to decide the women have to see a picture of an ultrasound before they have an abortion. It's not right. One, why should MEN decide that? And two, why should the government have that power? If women weren't allowed to have abortions, newly born children be left in dumpsters or on the street to die. It's a horrible thought! What do you think?

I would appreciate everybody's help on this one. Is there anything in the federal or state (NY) law regarding employer's right to let you go if you're absent too often. I have a little child and will probably start a new job within a couple of months; I already have the questioning and strange looks at the current job. Can they let me go if I have to stay home with a sick child and how often is too often? I am not a rocket scientist :))) and I am certainly replaceable but still will they let me go? Isn't that discrimination?

Ya know its kinda weird how both of those men are allied with people who are hell bent on killing Christians when they actually proclaim to be ones themselves.

Kinda weird huh.

Considering that if terrorists had their way Chavez would be moving to Allahwood "Formerly Hollywood" and their old buddy "In"Fidel Castro would be killed.

So im just wondering, why would Chavez meet with the Pope, then go have alittle chat with the very people that wanta kill him.

Hypocrits, lunatics, or secret Muslims?

This really confuses me, so thanks for your answers!

SocSec is supposed to be a trust fund that you pay into, and get back at retirement. But the contributions cap at a certain income level, it's paid out to rich people who don't need it, and the payouts have no correlation to the cash put in.
Why don't we demand that the goverment stop taking the special SocSec tax from our income, and let US decide what to do with our money? Because the people who are investing and saving DESPITE the SocSec tax will investf and save just that much more, and the people who AREN'T saving and investing, and are stupidly counting on SocSec as their retirement, will qualify for govt poverty programs and will get paid that way.

And don't give me that crap about "it's a promise we made to our seniors." It's a govt program, plain and simple. My govt promised me it wouldn't have sex with interns and then commit perjury about it, and also promised me it wouldn't go to war anymore unless it intended to fight and win, so govt promises mean squat.

The town of Hazelton, PA passed a law imposing fines on businesses and individuals employing/renting to/otherwise transacting business with ILLEGAL (undocumented for you PC'ers out there) immigrants. Said ILLEGAL immigrants employed the ACLU and filed a lawsuit with the argument (as I understand it) of immigration policy being the federal government's jurisdiction and local governments can't be mean and actually try to enforce laws designed to reduce the ILLEGAL practice of entering this country.

{Disregarding the peripheral arguments about crime and jobs and how they are trying to improve their lives} Should local governments be able to enact and ENFORCE laws to curttail ILLEGAL activities when the federal government falls down on the job?

As I have said in other answers on this topic- Does the immigration system need work? Yes.

I am dating an American and we are trying to make a decision whether it would make more sense for him to move here (Canada) or for me to move to the states. It just seems like such a complicated process unless we get married and then there is no guarantee that either of us could actually stay in either country if we go through all the hoops that the government wants us to go through. How are we supposed to be together.
