I love all animals but I would not object to animal testing IF it was necessary but a lot of it and the cruelty involved is not.I watched a documentary in which a number of top scientists were asked there opinions on films obtained in secret of dogs being cruelly abused in the name of research even these people said that the testing was unnecessary and duplicating research already done and that nowadays test on animals was rarely needed. It is interesting that in the USA that since the law now says that chimps and other primates used in labs must be paid for by the research labs for the rest of their lives after retirement(In zoos and places like monkey world) that the number of animals used is dropping dramatically.
I am sure the founders of monkey world would stick to their principals in view of the fact that ten of thousands of animals have suffered and still people like your father die you say that you would have given anything for a cure but and I don't blame you.But the fact remains he wasn't cured and thousands of these intelligent creatures closely related to man are dead with no results.

I doubt it. I don't think you understand all the new ways there are to test things. with stem cell reserch they can grow human organs, tissues, and body parts to test things on. They have extremely accurate computers that can calculate how the human body will react, They have donated body parts that they can test things on, and they also have a HUGE (I mean enourmous) database of chemicals, ingredients, and other things that have alredy been tested on humans and animals and all their effects.
As well while SOME primates (not all monkies) are the closest animal related to humans they are also smart enough to know themselves. Gorillas, chimpanzees, and bonobos recognise themselves in a mirror, they recognise their own name and the names of others, they can speak English (in sign language) and carry on conversations. A 3 month old infant doesn't recognise ANY of this stuff, neither do a lot of severely brain damaged people, why don't we test on them instead??? Especially since the results would be more accurate!
We test on monkies simply because they don't look like us (we enslaved africans too because they didn't look like us) not because of how smart they are, and because the average person doesn't have to watch them scream!
Perhaps we could find a cure for cancer faster if the people looking for the cure weren't the same people making billions of dollars a year off the cancer treatments.

there is so much clap trap knocking about from the so called animal rights activists, they are just thugs in disguise using this issue to cover their criminality. No reasonable human being would wish an animal to suffer unnecessarily, but these
hoods wish human beings to. In the bordering county to me, Staffordshire, there is an area covering thousands of acres of forest, namely Cannock Chase. This was home to many ground nesting birds including the rare nightjar, together with a small colony of the native British red squirrel, which has amost been eliminated from our island by the obnoxious American tree rat, mistakenly called the grey squirrel. What these barmy activists did was to let loose thousands of mink from a nearby farm.. within 12 months there were no ground nesting birds and no red squirrels..gone forever from a perfect habitat.. In the same county this band of hoodlums dug up the body of the mother of another mink farmer and secreted it. It was years before the remains were found .Thank God the perpetraters of this awful act are now behind bars. They terrify innocent people going about their lawful occupations, I am so angry at them I am lost for words. The experimental labs are licenced and inspected regularly, and suffering I'm sure is almost zero, although I have never been in such an establisment, I know people who work in them, and they are just like me, animal lovers. Although one is always uneasy about these experiments, if the outcome of one saved the life of one of my loved ones, I would personally shake the scientist by the hand.

Its quite a disturbig question but I think yes they would. These kind of questions are a bit disturbing as to me they are along the lines of "if your dog was attacking your son would you kill it". There are places I don't think we should go until we have to.
But that does leave the moral question as to what the system or powers that be have to decide upon as law in these issues.
I am so sorry about your dad.

This is one very sad question because either way no one wins, if we experiment on monkeys they will die ,if we don't we will die, I know how you feel because my dad also died of cancer.

no they would not! I have met both Jim and Allison, and they both have said previously that they would put the lives of the animals before themselves!
They worked tirelessley and selflessly for the Monkeys.
I have no doubt at all that they would not condone it.
