A Senate committee approved a $122 billion measure Thursday financing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan but also defying President Bush by calling on him to pull combat troops out of Iraq by next spring.

The bill, approved by a voice vote, is similar to one the House began debating Thursday. Both measures have drawn veto threats from the White House, which has said Congress must allow more time for the U.S. troop increase in Iraq to work.

Republicans on the Senate Appropriations Committee had hoped to delete the withdrawal language. But facing likely defeat, they decided to postpone that effort until the full Senate takes up the spending measure, as early as Monday. The Iraq war is on it's way out. The war will be over and the troops will come home.

When the American public voted the majority of Democrats into office last November, that was basically the start of a new war, the war between the President and Congress. With Congress composed of extreme liberals, it is amazing that they think that there can be a time table placed on the war. It's a war, not a homework assignment or a term paper, but a full out war against terrorism and the freedom that the Iraqis people need to sustain a democracy. If the senate places a time table and the Iraqi government is overthrown, our fight for the past four years would have been for nothing. By finishing what we started, we are sending a message to the terrorists worldwide that the United States does not back down. As of now, the terrorists are probably laughing and comprising there next strike on our soil due to our political mess. I am eighteen years-old and I feel as if I have a better sense of what needs to be accomplished than people like John Kerry or Ted Kennedy. Think about that and think how fortunate we are to have Bush as President. I admit that he has made mistakes along the way with the war, but should not be held fully accountable as there are many advisors telling him what to do and how to handle things, aka, Rumseld... but he is gone now and there is a new handling of the war. I hope that the troop increase will continue and that all our troops do come home safe once the war is fought and we have won! I wrote a lot, but it's an issue that I feel very strongly about.

while YAY soldiers coming home supposedly it is not going to happen and I will tell you why....

To leave will cause civilians to be killed which will not be allowed by the government. Another important thing to think about is this...

Okay lets say that we are like okay all soldiers out by Spring, so the insurgents are like okay well they are going to be out in the spring because you know that our government and media can't keep their mouths shut, so all of the insurgents are like okay, lets just sit and not do anything, then when the soldiers leave BAM the country explodes.

I think that soldiers need to be slowly retracted out of Iraq, one large pull out will not allow people to be killed but will probably increase the level of violence that is occurring over there.
