I have to write an essay due by monday for my APUSH class. I also have to present it. I need more reasons as to what pushed us into the war besides the letter Britain intercepted from Germany.

Sinking of the Lousitania. The Zimmerman letter also. YOu have to understand that Western Europe provided America's greatest commercial interests.. while Central Europe did not. It was a good political and business decision to go to war against the Triple Alliance.

The lusitania incident in 1915 was also a big todo. But the letter that Britian intecepted from Germany encouraging Mexico to attack the US was one of the biggest.

For one, the US was afraid that the democratic nations might lose and their governments replaced with less friendly or non-democratic ones, particularly France. However I think the main reason was the attacks by German subs against trade vessels going to Britian/France. There are always good profits in transporting weapons. Have fun with that AP test, its a hard one!

It is my humble opinion that the USA is CLOSELY allied to Great Britian. If Great Britian is at war we will support her at all costs. After all we are two nations separated by a common language.

It was an easy way for the US government to rid itself of a lot of undesirables who were causing labor unrest and thereby hurting the multimillionaires who were--and still are--running this country. Try reading up on the Industrial Workers of the World and see if I'm off base. I don't think I am.
