My classmates and I disagree on this. Some think that Japan was ready to surrender anyway and an invasion and/or use of the atomic bombs was unjustified. Others argue that if we hadn't used the atomic bomb, Japan wouldn't have surrendered until after more combat, killing more people.

Who's right?

the news on the internet or in the newspaper? Have opinion show host told people the media is biased in attempt to keep them from getting their news somewhere. That is a good way to keep the ratings high.

Actor Woody Harrelson's father, Charles Harrelson, has died in the federal Supermax prison in Colorado, where he was serving two life sentences for killing a U.S. judge in Texas. I'm just wondering how his sentence was doubled, was it because he killed a judge? How about some expert law-person answering this one. Thanx

How it is possible that you and I are sitting in a room playing cards. I am actively sucking on a cigarette, you do not smoke.

How is it possible that what I exhale is worse for you, the non smoker, than it is for me. Not only am I sucking it into my lungs, I am also sitting in the room with you. How is it possible that it is worse for you?

Apparently Iraq's VP has offered talks with faction leaders/militias. But some believe Al Quaida and other outside influences will never let this happen, or will prevent a government from taking root even if the main internal factions reach a political agreement.

There seem to be two main opinions about Iraq now. One is that the Sunnis and Shiites are willing and able to work something out and get along, and that it is just these other militia groups like Al Quaida who are making it difficult, through violence, for them to come to terms.

The other view is that the centuries-old rivalry between the Sunnis and Shiites is at the heart of the problem, and that it is essentially a civil war between them (and to a lesser extent the Kurds) that would exist with or without the influence of these other militants.

Which view is correct, and what is the way to proceed?

Seriously, why is the Democratic party so interested in embracing the ideals of Socialism. I just do not understand why the far left is so proud to want to take from the hard workers and give it to those that are to lazy to work. Why do they want their hand in Big Business? How come they can not see that Capitalism is what made this a great nation and that Socialism is very bad?

Big Al purchases those "carbon offsets" from a company he owns...now who is kidding who on this issue. He owns a 20,000 sq ft house with 8 bathrooms (we always new he was full of crap) that uses more energy than 1000 average homes.
What is the old saying "do as I say...not as I do".

I specifically remember people telling me how the Iraq War would end up being long, there were not going to be the WMDs made after '98, cost a lot, and ultimately fail. This was before the war even started. Now it hasn't ended yet, so that last one is still open. But I honestly thought, "hey, it's just Iraq, we should be able to destroy their army, control their country, and help them install a new government in less then a year." I thought all those saying different were just nay saying. But it turns out they were right.

Do you know anyone who was mostly accurate in their prediction of the war? What did you think about that then? What do you think about it now?

Not a Christian here, but how is Al Gore and his friends going to predict the worlds destruction when the Bible says it's not up to man to decide the time of the Apocolypse?

Wouldn't this also make the Apocolypse inevitable if it's the "Almightiest" choosing?
