My kid wants to know why we are called the United States of America when we make up only a fraction of the Americas and why we aren't called the United States of Columbia. I told him there is already a country called Columbia but technically they would still be different. What can I do to show him how to take a proactive approach to changing things like this? Help him write a State Rep or what?

Ok, I had no interest in this woman's life until recent bizarre events.

My question is, how could an appellate judge have legally ruled in her favor when Marshall's will did not include her? The man must have known her greedy intentions but knew he had little time left, so he would have amended his will if he wanted to include her, right? She probably had a trust fund anyway that would have taken care of her for the rest of her life.

Also, how would Dannielynn have a stake in his money when her mother is dead? Wouldn't the lawsuit end at her death since she never had a child by Marshall? I know she's represented by an "estate" but come on!

I've noticed in all the questions about George W. Bush all the answers and even the question are eather against or for George Bush. So, I am asking people to give ONE pro AND ONE con (biggest pro and biggest con in your opinion). And then say wich one is better (if the pro is worth the con... or if the con is to great to be cancelled out by the pro).

I find it hard to think grown men ages 27 & 33 would do something this foolish. Do you think they will get jail time for this?:

In an incident that at first left police incredulous, two men were charged Thursday in Southington with shooting a man in the leg with a blowgun. Police said the man was shot as he walked out of a store on Queen Street.

The man was one of three people shot apparently at random in the space of half an hour Thursday in Plainville and Southington. In all three cases, the attackers drove past their victim as they fired, police said.

Arrested were Jason Plourde, 27, of Waterbury, and Edward Youle, 33, of Southington. Police said they found three blowguns and a box of darts in their sport-utility vehicle.

"They thought it was funny," Southington Police spokesman Sgt. Lowell DePalma said.

No one was seriously hurt, but one of the victims in Plainville went to the hospital to get a tetanus shot, said Plainville police Lt. Brian Mullins.

The attacks occurred on busy stretches of road, and the two in Plainville occurred less than half a mile apart.

The first incident occurred at the Connecticut Commons shopping complex on New Britain Avenue in Plainville, where a man walking out of a store was shot in the leg.

The man, Jason Warner of Bristol, said he felt as if he had been hit by a paintball. "I thought I would just wipe off the paint, but then I looked down and saw the needle sticking out.

"I had seen blowgun darts before and knew what it was, but I was still shocked. I thought, `That's interesting,' and then yanked it out."

A few minutes later, a woman pumping gas at a service station a short distance from the shopping center was hit in the back.

The problem in Iraq is that we're so concerned with being seen as the good guys that we've lost sight of the fact that the ultimate objective in any armed conflict is to win.

The Soviets did very little I found laudatory, but they weren't complete imbeciles, either. In 1982, when Hezbollah was kidnapping Western businessmen and diplomats, Western governments were wringing their hands, quivering with indecision over what to do. Hezbollah then made the mistake of kidnapping Soviet diplomats. Soon, wives and children of Hezbollah leaders started disappearing and their remains were returned to Hezbollah in tiny pieces along with the message "We trust you will cease bothering Soviet nationals." Guess what? No more Soviets were kidnapped.

Further, we could learn much from the way our Israeli friends deal with terrorism in Judea and Samaria (the so-called "Occupied Territories"). If a terrorist blows himself up in a suicide bombing, the IDF bulldozes his family home.

Personally, I despise McCain. He strikes me as a man so concerned to appeal to voters that he is incapable of standing firm on principle.
