Yes, the problem has probably been there for a long time but Bush is the one who's made a big deal about supporting the troops.

Its disgraceful, and it is six years into his term. During the first few months if not years of a presidency one can get away with wagging their finger at the old administration.

But, blaming Clinton or administrations past is a sign of a Presidency that has nothing to stand on.

Every president in the past three decades has 'made a big deal about supporting the troops'. And the situations in the VA hospitals continue to deteriorate. If it weren't for the donations made by other, luckier vets, I shudder to think what the current situation would really be like.

This isn't solely Bush's fault, although he does share an equal part in the blame of not remedying the situation.

I was talking to a veteran here in NC who uses the VA medical system. He said Bush personally visited them in 2001 and was appalled by the level of care. This vet said that, while it still isn't perfect, it is vastly better than it has been for two decades.

Do not lay this on Bush - I can tell you first hand that the VA hospitals were in need of drastic overhauls as long as 35 or 40 years ago. Ask a Viet Nam vet.

I've got some hard news for you, Skippy. I served in the navy from 1975 until 1997. It's always been a mess. Okay? Do you know what SNAFU means?

it's all about winning for the Bush team,,, but,, were losing here at home,,, in Iraq,,, and in Afghanistan,, because George W. and Co. are just a bunch of war profiteers,,, carpet-baggers run rampant,,, they want to extend the war into Iran,,, talk about a mistake,,, the USA would have to have a draft,, because the thousands killed and injured will turn into 10's of thousands or possibly 100's of thousands,,,

So you think those conditions started only 6 years ago? I have a newsflash for you. These problems have been around forever. The VA is my best argument against national health care.
