Where can I find the laws that apply in the state of New York? Maybe there's a website for the federal legislation too?
I'm a European lawstudent and interested in international judicial systems

I've heard that in order to give a right to people, you have to take another right away from someone else. Sometimes you decide that the right is important to make, despite the loss of another right.

For example, to give someone the right to be safe from racism, you take away the right for people to be racist. In this case, the exchange is definately worth.

In other cases, it's more debatable. For example, if you give all people the right to have medical care reguardless of whether they can afford it, you are in turn making someone else pay for the medical care of other people.

It's a little known fact that a man can sue to get back the engagement ring from his ex-fiance if wedding is off and she refuses to give it back but I'm curious as to the legal name of the law that allows this. This applies to the U.S., I don't know about other countries. =P

Even after leaving Gaza the terrorists still send missiles over to attack Israel, so whats the point of giving up the land in the first place if it would just be easier for terrorists to attack Israel, shouldn't they just keep the land and let the arab countries give up their land to the "palestinians" .

I had only been with them for 4 months when this happened. They put me under so much stress right before the miscarriage that I just could not manage my workload and I feel that they were greatly to blame for the miscarriage. They have used my lateness (caused by bad morning sickness) and my not completeing tasks (because 2 other people were absent and I couldnt manage my work and theirs with no help at all) as the reasons for dismissing me. But I found out by accident that my job had been advertised the week I told them I was pregnant. Can I claim unfair dismissal?

Bush admitted that we are losing in the war and that his first plan didn't work. but a few months ago he said we were winning. anyways what do you think about Bush sending over 20,000 young american troops to war. do you think it is the right decision because we can truly win the war with a few more help, or do you think he is setting the troops up for more deaths which will not lead to any victory.
