Yes, I think he's doing the right thing.
He's not sending 20.000 to their 'deaths'.
You do realize that lots of us military wives are on here right?
Real nice to tell us that our husbands will die....
And you do realize you have a higher chance of dying on your highway where you live than they do in Iraq?

First of all, they're had to be enough people voting for Bush in order for him to win the election. (Twice)
Second, as a military wife, I agree with Bush's plan. Crazy as it sounds, if it were my decision, I would pull out the majority of the troops there, and replace them with fresh troops. I find it hard to believe that someone who's been over there for months, after losing 10's of pounds is as strong or sharp as a fresh soldier would be. I guess if I was president, I'd have all kinds of people upset at me.
Furthermore, I find it refreshing that our president admitted fault and is taking responsibility for the failures overseas. I can tell you, it is to no fault of the soldiers over there. I think everyone is expecting a microwave solution to this war, and it just isn't possible. The war didn't start over night, and no one should expect it to end that way.
On one last note, I'd like to add that the president isn't the only one to make these decisions. Congress has to agree as well. As a matter of fact, the Marines are the only branch of service that the president can direct without an act of congress.
Yes, President Bush is the one we see on TV making speeches, but he is not single-handedly responsible for everything that goes on.

Since I don't have access to the information used to make the decisions, it difficult to say. I do know that a failure in Iraq, or any US military endeavor will have serious consequences. Clinton's lack of resolve in Somalia is what provided the 'weakness theory' that convinced Bin Laden to attack the WTC.
Departing Iraq without a democratic government in place will have dire and long lived consequences for Americans.
I don't understand your resolve for a defeat. Whether you like it or not, the troops are there, and we must find a way to win before departure. Or suffer the consequences.

What do you know about international politics? Running a country? Conducting a war? Democracy? The price of your freedom? Protecting this country from terrorist? What do you think would happen if people who attack our nation made an effort to support it? How well do you think President bush would have performed if people had respected his office and stood behind him in such a time of crisis? Is it the Presidents Fault that the citizens of this country don't love it and support it?
I am not a bush lover but i am accountable enough to realize that the failures of policy in this country do not rest at the feet of one man.

Another defeatist. Guess next time we should save the hassles and just convert to islam. I love you obvious democratic cowards. I also look forward to your cries when we end up a satrip of the caliphate. Mission accomplished bonehead.

I think if the defeatists in the USA would quit their whining and start helping our troops by joining and shooting some weapons instead of shooting off their big mouths, this thing would have been all over by now.

We have people in our own country that want us to lose in Iraq.... and to lose to the terrorists.
They try to act like they "care", but it's not hard to tell they want us to lose.
