He needs to start removing 21,000 troops each week until they are all back and bringing them back home to their families, not sending more. It is time for Iraq to start standing on their own feet, and if they want to kill each other, let them. These people are choosing the violence and the way that they live. What about the people of Darfur, they are innocent and being massacred, but instead of helping people like that, our president decided that is was more important to clean up his daddy's mess and take out Saddam and using 9/11 as the excuse, and yet he still has no clue as to where Osama is, the real perpetrator.

I agree with you regarding your cousin and friend. I also have friends there, and all you people who think they want to, they don't. They no longer believe in this cause and want to come home to their families, they just have no choice in the matter because it is their duty to serve their country since it was the career they chose, and some regret choosing it. The only thing that keeps some of them going is the fact that they are protecting each other and their brotherhood. They don't want to be their anymore than we want them there and it is time that Bush respected that and stopped sending our families to be slaughtered, it has nothing to do with patriotism anymore but what is best for our troops. They no longer believe in the cause they are fighting for and the moral is low, it is time to bring the boys back now!!!! They are fighting for a lost cause.

So you don't want more troops to help support your family and friend? You would prefer the Democrats cut funding while they are in a battle zone? Thankfully we are not related or friends!

Some times I wander has anyone really thought about the consequences of pulling out before Iraq can maintain their own security. What it would mean when the whole ME erupts into war, and what this would mean to the global economy. Iran contolling half the oil in the world would have negative repercussions, especially if they use their profits to continue funding terrorists!

My husband is currently serving over there. It is his opinion and mine that if we pull out now that every soldier who has lost his life there will have lost it in vain. If we quit now the Iraqi's will lose everything that we have worked to help them build. My husband was just recently extended for another 4 months after already serving a year in country. He's not excited to miss more of his children's lives but he has a job to do and doesn't believe in walking away from it now. One thing to bear in mind also is that maybe the descion is ulimately Bush's but he has other people advising him on what needs to be done. I don't think that it is fair to just place the blame on him. If you want someone to be upset with I'd say be upset with the Iraqies. If they would stop killing each other then maybe one day we could pull out of there.

i have lost Friends, and relatives in other wars than this.when the iranians took our hostages in 1979,i joined the military(army 64-c-10) i wanted to bring our hostages home(dead or alive)when we went to iraq,we should have went there as victors.(oh wait,we had that chance back when the first pres.Bush was in office, but the U.N. stopped us outside of Baghdad)bummer.now,we are back again,we could have taken care of this 16 years ago.this war should have ended 16 years ago, thank the U.N for putting your Friend, and cousin in harms way.Pray for our leaders, because we had to go back to iraq, pres. Bush is not popular, now we will have to endure a liberal congress(possibly presidential) and they will not have the backbone that pres.Bush has.because this country is as big as it is,and we allow stuff to go on that other countries will not allow,we will get slapped again,we need strong leaders, and liberal leaders have never been strong!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's his last ditch gamble to turn around a failed policy. I don't think 21000 troops will magically turn everything around, nor would 42000.

Focusing on military operations rather than trying to win arab hearts and minds has been the biggest mistake of the US. Take away the terrorists and their supporters motivation, this is the key, not giving them more motivation by killing more of their brothers.

This war will will be over when we win--or when we surrender and give up. Our great mistake--as in Korea and Vietnam--has been the failure to apply our overwhelming power to crush the enemy. We need to do whatever it takes. It would have been better sooner, but better late than never.

21,000 troops is too little too late.. They should have send 100,000 six months into the insurgency and squished the terrorist in the bud.

I was against this whole thing in the first place. Bush has proven himself to be a dumbass because he doesn't think things through

okay i agree with you kinda, think about it if we get all of our troops home that's going to give terrorist a big advantage then there will be American innocents killed so don't you think there has to be someone to defend our freedom and our country.......okay tell me the solution then without sending more troops, unless you have one
