Of course.
Our military units are found in many more countries than any other country's military, especially in the 3rd world.
As shown with almost every war in the 20th and 21st centuries, we can invade and start wars with almost any country we want.
I think mostly though that our country is the way it is today because of the famed "American spirit", i.e. the spirit of adventure, independence, and the freedom to live as one wishes with few limits.
We have never backed down in wars or economically either, and gradually built up a reputation with the other influential countries around the world that militarily we could not be walked on, economically we were great to do business with, and politically, our country offered the chance for most of its citizens to make their voice heard, a voice that most other countries repressed in some way.
Lastly, while we have never been the model country we claimed to be and we always had many internal problems that went unsolved, perhaps the one factor that has always made our country the best in the world is the unity of the American people during times of crisis and war, when they needed to come together for the protection and progression of the American way.

Yes, our country is the most powerful on the globe, we have the largest economy, one of the largest populations, we are the wealthiest country, we have a large political influence, and we have the most powerful military in the world. How we got there is a much different question, I think it stems mostly from our free market, large population, and large amount of territory. I could name other factors, but they mostly revert to our free market.

According to the UN, the US is the only "super power". The past has made every country what they are today. The United States is the most wealthy, militarily strong, & politically powerful. This is not just by our standards but by world standards.

Our country is still militarily the most powerful, but in terms of finance former bad decisons by our government have eroded our financial strength to the point where we rely heavily on loans from other countries every single minute of every single day to keep running. Do you doubt this? We are so heavily in debt to other countries it's not even funny. How will we emerge from this?

Maybe on the globe and then again maybe China is. We got that way because we used to actually have a very strong manufacturing base in this country. Sadly that is no longer true.

So someone says that Bush made our country weak? The people wanting us OUT of Iraq are the ones making us look weak. If we pull out, these terrorists see people getting angry at their own leader and their unwilingness to fight back. That's a great way for the U.S. to come across as a country.
I still think we are the greatest country out there.

We can't even defeat little piss ant Iraq third world country w/sticks & stones, compared to what we have. The reason is because they are not afraid to die, they'll strap bombs to there chest & blow themselves up just as long as they kill two or more americans. Also they don't come in uniform, like american soldiers,so you don't know who they are.How can you win?Nukes is the only way,but then you open your self up to a larger whole new can of worms. So I would say that if america used there nukes they would be the most powerfull nation,& if not then no.

well we were isolationist for a long time silently growing stronger, we learned and grew from the depression, our government is typically very supportive, so it generates a lot of wealth, but since other countries are adopting our type of society (especially european ones) our dollar is dropping, and were wasting billions of dollars a week on a war that weakens us in more ways than economically. we had gained the respect of other nations but that respect is fading.
