After watching the evening news, one news story in particular prompted this question. NBC news reported that former inhabitants of public housing destroyed by hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, were demanding that housing projects destroyed in the storm be refurbished despite the cost to the tax payer.(because that is ultimately who pays for public works projects) What gives, how on Earth can an adult demand that they receive free or reduced cost housing at the expense of other people?
At what point in time did the responsible, employed and productive become responsible for the able but unwilling?

They also have children, smoke in the house, many times do other drugs and drink LOTS of soda. Now, that's not counting if all the residents in the house smoke, in which case it would be much more.
But, a conservative estimate per day is: A pack of cigarettes is about $4. A six pack of beer is about $4. and two liters of soda is about $2.
Now, I've estimated that this adds up to $10, conservatively. Which then adds up to about $300. a month. This is not accounting for the drug taking which may add on about $50-$100 per month. This isn't even counting in many of their scratch off ticket gambling money wasting.
I know many people crying about money and debt who are living like this. They don't give their kids crap, because they are so selfish.
Don't you think it's hard to feel sorry for people like this, I feel way more sorry for the children.
But the poor in America could save themselves a lot of money by adjusting their spending habits.

We are talking hundreds of $$$.

Of course, there are "talks" that could be brief, and could go something like this:

To the Syrian regime, the Americans could say: Alawites are not true Muslims. We know this, and the Sunnis know this, despite your attempts to hide behind that single fatwa from Iran claiming otherwise. The Saudis are prepared to use their money to broadcast through the Arab press, in the Middle East and in London, ably assisted by the Jordanians and the Egyptians, that the Alawites, those non-Muslims, must go. You think you can continue to rule, despite being 12% of the population. You think we will not support a Sunni Muslim effort to depose you. At this point, your behavior is such that we regard you as disposable. But it is not we who will do the disposing. It will be the Ikhwan within Syria. We will publicize your permitting Shi'a missionaries to come from Iran. We will have the Saudis and others display the pictures of Mary that hang in every Alawite village.

I could never grasp that right wing concept. As if piss-poor insurgents are going to leave their goats behind, hop on a jet with their AK-47's in carry on, and wreak havoc on the US one car bomb at a time.

If they could, it would be far more effective than what they are doing now in Iraq. And as 9/11 showed us, terrorists aren't stupid.

What makes you think common street thugs in Iraq (99% without passports even) are going to come streaming into New York with tons of explosives if we don't indulge them in Iraq?

And what is the precedent behind this assumption? Who was the last Middle Eastern insurgent goat farmer/ex-cop to set off a bomb in the West?

which I hope so, I want to say that you guys are my heroes. I admire your courage, and the fact that you risk your lives for our country, and Iraqi civilians. I hope to be in the army airforce after I
graduate from high school. I draw pictures of marines, soldiers, army airplanes, and mostly everything in the army, in my drawing book.
I hope this shows you guys that I, and a thousands other people care about you guys. "Have a great christmas, and a happy new year".
