Your question is too vague - do you mean:
Do I deserve to have sufficient food, clothing, shelter for my family and I? - the answer is obviously yes, there is no excuse for these not being provided.
Should I prioritise my vices over the welfare of my children and myself? - Then I would have to disagree, no-one should have to suffer as a result of your intemperate nature, not even you.
That said, if you choose to waste your life doing this - its your choice, perhaps this says more about the society you live in than you. If you can hold down a job - you should be able feed and clothe your family, whether the money comes from your employer or the benefit system.

The attitude displayed in this question makes me sick. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh but I think that this new idea that poor people are "undeserving" is a moral cancer that is spreading through our society, even christians in the US now are more worried that they might accidentally help someone who doesn't deserve it than they won't help someone who does.
It may be fun sport to judge the poor people you know but it's immoral. And by doing it I believe you are spreading an evil corruption of the lessons of charity that every major religion has taught and every compassionate person has learned since childhood. Don't be part of the problem, be part of the solution.

Sweetie I've looked at your Q's, you seem to have an odd fixation on lower income individuals. This obsession could possibly led you into a caring career aspect dealing with people who have these problems. But most likely what will happen or has already happened is that you'll be ridiculed and called out for your piss poor ultra hatred towards people of this statue. :)

just because you smoke a pack a day and drink a case a week doesn't automaticly make you poor. No one deserves to be poor but by their actions they have become poor. Without both "sins" can be done away with to help get out of poverty but it doesnt make anyone deserve to be poor.

i smoke a little less than half a pack a day, down from a full pack. i dont drink often but i do enjoy a night out now and then. and i've met a lot of irresponsable people like that, sometimes i think the same thing you do, but to wish harm on someone for they're habits doesnt seem very ethical. i think they just have to reaccess they're priorities.

Deserve to be poor? Who deserves to be poor? When you're living on the poverty line and all you've got is smokes and beer what else are you going to do? Why don't you try it, then you'll know?

I think smoking and drinking are the worst thing in the whole worldddddd. I would never smoke or drink. That is diskusting. I think she should be poor, and the kids are not a bit guilty about their mother cause their mother is crazy and that she should go to jail and let the kids live with their grandmum and grandads or somebody else.

No.
Why does someone deserve to be poor? How do people 'drink food'?
