BY THE WAY ANDY, I know alot of illegals who pay taxes. At the end of the year they just can't claim them. So do some research, or maybe if you knew an illegal you would know the truth.

By the way when people use the term illegal, there are probably alot of illegal things that normal everyday people do. Like J-walk, or underage drinking, or speeding, that is illegal too.

Yes Steph. They get a number from the social security office and use it on their forms, and then they get money out of their pay checks but, at the end of the year they can't get money back.

I came here legally. I employed an attorney who was meticulous in ensuring that I complied with all immigration laws. I paid my immigration fees. Those fees are intended to cover the costs of providing immigration services so that those costs do not fall upon the American taxpayer. That is right and proper. I have just paid out more money for a citizenship application. That is also correct. I have paid taxes since I came here. I have not broken any laws.
I accept, reluctantly, that there will probably be a guest worker program and that there may also be a path to citizenship. If there is to be one, we must make sure that citizenship is granted only to those illegal immigrants whose only crime was to cross the border illegally, with any other crime being a bar to citizenship. I could live with that as a compromise. Frankly, though, I would much prefer it if citizenship were denied.
Finally, those who say that illegals pay their taxes are cherry-picking. Some do, for sure, but it is a minority. There seemed to be a rush to pay taxes when the guest worker program was first announced, but that seems to have dried up.

Actually they get the number from the IRS - it is called the ITIN, also the w-7 (which is the name of the application to file). However, with the W-7 they do get some money back - if they paid more than they should have in. Just like everyone else who, if, according to their income should ahve paid $3000 in, and they paid in $5000, then they get the $2000 back. however if they only paid in $2000 then they still owe that $1000. However with that they do not qualify for things such as the EIC (earned income credit) which is given to people who are within a certain income range, but in order to get the EIC they have to have a valid SS#. Alot of people who are here illegally do this - file their taxes at the end of the year - so that they are following that law.
As for the answer to your question, I think that yes they should be given a chance to apply to be able to change their status.

YES! But, only if they are married to an American born citizen of the U.S. and can prove that they've been here working and taking care of their family. Why should the illegals get shipped back to Mexico and be separated from their children? It's hard enough for 2 parents living paycheck to paycheck to raise kids today. Could you imagine trying to raise 3 or 4 kids by yourself on $8.00 an hour, because your husband was sent back to Mexico.
Sent back because of the terrorists and what happened on 9/11. After 9/11 there were many laws passed that now prevent many illegal mexicans from getting any kind of pass to be in the U.S. Even if you had your paperwork started a long time ago. And now those people that were making it as a 2 parent household are without the support of their spouse and are having to go on welfare and get foodstamps and medicaid to be able to survive. But, if the spouse was there to support them they wouldn't have to do that. It's just rediculous.

Jaywalkers are in no way comparable with illegal aliens.
"Illegal aliens" should also be considered FELONS when one considers all the free benefits they receive. They are committing robbery, grand larceny, filing false documents, etc. etc. These are crimes - or are you only counting murder and rape?
How 'bout the 18 y.o. who shot two cops two nights ago. The woman had a bullet sever her spine at her neck and will never move below the neck again, should she live. The male officer was sent home with a bullet in his neck because it's too close to the spinal cord to operate yet.
The shooter couldn't be questioned immediately because the Buffalo P.D. had to call for an INTERPRETER!!
A police officer is paralyzed for life and another is in fear of being paralyzed for life should that bullet shift.
She has four children and is only 41 years old.
I'm sure I'm to blame for this kid's actions in SOME way. His mother (who sure could speak English for the cameras-so why can't her son speak English for the cops?) says he's SUCH a good boy. THIRD ARMED ROBBERY. Good boy - yeah....

I think that only people that were brought here illegally against their choice. Like a lot of adults that were brought here by their parents and are now screwed. As far as other who knowingly came illegally I think that they should be punished for breaking the law. I am mexican but there are a lot of other immigrants all over the world that have been waiting like everyone should. There is a reason for the laws and just because some people that are here illegally try to make a right life after breaking the law, does not really give me that much sympathy. there are many poor countires and millions of people having hard lives so that is no right excuse.

Depends, if our government would do as it promises and secure borders- maybe. That said it's not just murder and rape, if they have used a fraudulent document or stolen someone else's ID, then that should be taken into account too. Some people don't see that as a crime but the deception speaks volumes. They also should learn English, and pay a fine. Some adjustments have to be made in our laws to prevent further illegal immigration and promote assimilation to our culture. My first priority is border security and until that gets done, everything else is pointless.

I don't think they should get a free pass to become a Citizen. Do the paperwork and prove you belong here. The only automatic pass I can think of is the military. Illegal or not as soon as they are sworn in they are legal citizens.
I have an issue currenlt because an illegal stole my 8 year olds SS number and it has become the nightmare from Hades to try to get it corrected

No, not automatically, and we need a guestworker program before we even discuss amensty. Get rid of the 14th admenamnt and bar anchoring as a scheme for citizenship. Make baby anchoring a criminal offense, and start to regulate immigration flow with marketplace. First, get rid of green card lottery. Second, skilled workers should only be allowed based on degrees. Finally. bordering countries on the USA border should be dealt with thru new immigration flows. Finally, immigration flows should managed first. Ammnesty should be the last issuse to deal with first one should be overhauling the whole immigration system. People want to work in America lets profit off it, charge like money based on skills, education, distrance from Untied States, English ability. We need to profit off migrantion to offset the costs in the short. Long term is freeing up labor markets in certian sectors so people can live anywhere they want in the world in the long term.

Don't listen to the fabrication that you read on here. The pro supporters all have a vested interest in the illegal alien. They don't speak from truth or logic they speak with emotion only .They distort and bastardize the truth until even they believe it.No amnesty under any disguise and secure the borders and begin the systematic deportation of all illegal aliens.
