I asked a question about my friend a minute ago, and was wondering if he did have to register as a sex offender, can he see his kids? He has a baby on the way in two months. And he has a step-daughter.

Here's a question I could use some help understanding.

Why is that with all the discussion going on about the Iraq war and U.S. relations with the Middle East, the most obvious question has yet to be disussed?

(I'm of coruse referring to the question of "Why do fundamental Islamic groups hate the U.S.?")

I am an American, and I think if we ask this question we'll realize that our constant presence in the Middle East is the cause of this animosity. We might even go so far as changing our approach for the benefit of future generations.

But nobody is having this discussion!

My question again: Why is nobody asking this question and having this discussion about America's long-term presence in the Middle East?

okay here's the deal....my friend got his 10 yr permanent green card thru marriage..he's been married 4 yrs now...he got his permanent green card 4 months ago...question is ...can he divorce his wife in the next 8 months and would he be able to apply for US citizenship in 5 yrs without any hassle....its not like they are not together ....but its more for tax purposes... they have stepson and considering if they are divorced ..then she can file as head of household with a bigger deduction and he can file as single with normal deduction..anyways his concern is would it effect his chances at citizenship because they want to save some money in taxes....please no stupid answers...an honest and true answer will get 10 points...thank you.

For example the war in Algeria. Algeria was dominated and occupied by the french. The people of Algeria raised up against the french. We said that the algerian insurgents were fighting a war of independence.
Do you agree with that definition? If you don't, please correct it to the best of your ability.

Is it really necessary for the US to adopt the position that everyone else in the world must have the same freedoms we do and then to force our way of democratic government upon them by military action; in the process spending billions upon billions of dollars that could be much better spent at home?

I am in the process of filling out a petition for a emancipation. I am of legal age and everything to be emancipated in my state, MI, but I have a few questions. So Here it goes:

1. Can i get my drivers license? The reason I have not received one yet is because the parent I was living with was very controlling and would not allow it. I have recently taken drivers education where I am now living, but the 6months that you have to wait between Drivers Ed., and actually obtaing your license has not yet lapsed. Therfore since emacipation grants you the power to ascertain the same privledges as someone who is an adult, would the power of emancipation waive those remaining months.

2. After emancipation, would I be able to sue my mother for abandonment (e.g financial aid) since she kicked me out of the house, and for abandonment of me when i was younger? (she left when I was 2 w/o notice to my father, and when i was 14 she came back into my life? i am now 16, soon to be 17)

Thanks!!:)

I have created this hypothetical situation, in which there may be more than one answer. What do you think the answer is?

Suppose that a television set manufacturer wanted to use a photograph of Charles Van Doren in national magazine ads for its products with a caption that said, "You watched him on our TV sets in the 1950's. You're watching today's heroes on our TV sets now. Fifty years from now, you'll still be watching our sets. Quality: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow."

Could the manufacturer do so without Van Doren';s consent, or would his consent be necessary? Why?

I have created this hypothetical situation, in which there may be more than one answer. What do you think the answer is?

Charles Van Doren was a central figure in the quiz show scandal of the 1950's because he was one of the best liked and most successful contestants on the show "21", and because he lied to the public and a grand jury by falsely denying that he had been given answers in advance, Eventually, at a Congressional hearing, Van Doren admitted that he had lied; therefore he was fired by Columbia University (where he had been teaching English). He dropped out of the public eye completely, and he spent the rest of his career working as an editor for Encyclopedia Britannica. A Robert Redford directed movie, "Quiz Show", was essentially a dramatization of Van Doren's story.

If the producers of "Quiz Show" had asked you whether Charles Van Doren's consent had to be obtained before the movie was released, what would you have advised? Why?

Why is ok for them to put all of these commercials for alcohol on t.v. and ban people for smoking because second hand smoke might kill their kids? Well, to me if someone gets out in a car and drives while drunk they might just kill a kid in a car accident. I am not against alcohol - I just don't see why it is ok to drink and get SHlT faced drunk but if you smoke you are hurting their pretty little health.

I AM!!!! Get those republicans a tissue! Like it or not it's legal, and what are you going to do about it? You all take care of those babies in the middle east and we'll take care of them here... NO DIFFERANCE! No matter how much you'd like to think there is.

Soften the blow. It's justified killing of children in the Middle East, and America is sorry. White phosphorous feels great on nerve endings.
