I'm currently a student at the USMA, and will be commissioned an Armor officer upon graduation. I have met so many civilians that are extremely ignorant about what the US army is and what it does. I even had one person tell me that the majority of troops in Iraq were Marines, followed by the National Guard, and that the Army was useless! And I had someone else tell me that Marines did all of the fighting and the Army only existed as a reserve force for the Marines. Why dont people get their facts straight, that 120,000 US Army soldiers are serving in Iraq, thats 85% of the personnel in Iraq? And besides that, they are serving in Al-Fallujah, and Baghdad, in the Sunni Triangle, the most dangerous part of Iraq! This is seriously ridiculous, (I'm not bashing Marines, I have immense respect for the Corps) but Marines fight battles, the Army fights wars. We have all of the heavy equipment and supplies and take the brunt of combat.

We lost our business due too imbezzlement within the company. We had to sign a personal guarantee with many of our vendors to get started. Now it has been almost a year and we have a vendor coming after us personally. They are seeking restitution through a summery judgement. What can I do, I don't have any assets now to liquidate because I lost everything when I lost the business. I don't feel that this is fair. Does anyone have any advice?

........slowly but surely...?
We are now witnessing a growing Latin American far left "coalition."
Hugo Chavez (up again for re-election)-- Venezuela; Daniel Ortega -- Nicaragua; Alvaro Uribe -- Bogota; Alfredo Palacio --, Ecuador, (who promises to close the remaining US base there.)
Past U.S. intervention in Latin America often has proved to be counterproductive. America spent much of the Cold War supporting brutal and corrupt dictators – Somoza, Duvalier, Batista, and others. U.S. pressure often created resentment; Washington managed to turn a minor dictator into major international figure when it annointed Fidel Castro as its Latin American Enemy Number One. Now Washington has similarly aided Chavez, paying him far too much attention.
Chavez has led and continues to lead a rather strong “coalition of its own.
Does anyone foresee wicked problems to the south, fueled by oil in the not too distant future?
Is Chavez to be taken more seriously?

Republican bills and laws can no longer be passed.

Republican leaders are now being investigated for corruption and exploiting minors.

As often as I see Americans fight between each other I ask myself why did I fight for this country. Why did I put my life on the line. I then realize that those friends I lost in the war would be grateful and I know I did it for them. Shame on you America.

Bush praises the performance of the Dow, it has broken its all time high, he is proud of 12 record closings during his entire 6 years in office that is an average of 2 a year. I wonder what he would do if his performance equaled that of Clinton. Would he claim he deserved the noble prize in economics if he ruled over 277 record breaking days; this is what Clinton accomplished. Clinton averaged 34.63 record days a year. Clinton 277 Bush 12.

On January, 20 1993, the Dow Industrial Average was 3,241.95 on January 20, 2001 it was 10,587.24. The Dow increased by 7345.29 points, it grew 226.57% during the Clinton years. That is 28.32% per year.

The Dow, when Bush took office it was 10578.24 and today it is 12194.13. It has gone up by only 16% in 6 years. That is an average of 2.6% a year. the Dow needs to climb to 23,987.51 in the next 27 months if Bush is to have the same rate of growth as Clinton

It has just been announced that information about suspected paedophiles will be made public. Given the, rightful, angry response and horrifically projected actions of people, in this forum, to offences committed against children, do you think it can be justifiable to allow public information about "suspects" to be made known? I envisage mutilation and even deaths of innocent people, having read the responses, within this forum, from many angry people. You may recall that a paediatrician was the victim of mob violence, not so long ago, because that mob thought him to be a paedophile through their ignorance.

I expect a lot of "hang 'em, mutilate 'em, torture 'em" replies. but it would be good to hear from one or two who think about it!

20 years ago scientists were predicting that we were going into a mini ice age. This was "confirmed" when we had the "MEGA Snowstorms" in '93 and '96. We obviously didn't enter another ice age and now just a few years later, all these scientists are claiming that we are causing global warming. You gotta be kidding if you think that it really is going to happen.
Gore claims that this movie is not about politics. He says that in the intro to the movie. I am wondering why a very biased liberal politician is presenting this information to us instead of a scientist. I have never heard a scientist claim that we are causing global warming, just the anti-american, conspiracy believing liberals. Why is this???
Oh, and all you democrats out there that want to try to debate this, don't send me a link to some 100000000000000 word article some idiot put on his/her own site. Don't copy and paste what someone else thinks either. Just tell me what you really think.

I think the electoral college is very outdated. I know the old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", but I think the system is indeed broken. A significant number of Presidents have gotten into office without a majority consent, so this is not a democracy. (I'm pro-Bush, but I still believe he should not have been elected without the popular majority). It is possible for a president to have nearly three times the vote of the other candidate, but not win (in an unlikely but posible situation). This should not be allowed.

Do you agree/disagree?
Why should we get rid of it?/keep it?

I am a Hispanic legal immigrant residing in the U.S. I speak English, have a profession, and participate in my community (I just went to a Christmas parade this afternoon to help). Also I try to relate with the American society in my area. It all sounds nice and wonderful until we come to politics. I refuse to be extremist anti illegal, and I refuse to be pro illegal. I am more of a pro amnesty person. I think that some people actually do deserve to become legalized, and others to be deported while we increase our immigration security measure s and improve our immigration system. Now, just because I don't think like most Americans that all illegals should be deported, they treat me like a beaner. Isn't that awful? How a different ideology can really mess up how people look at you. Anyway, just a thought that's been going through my head. I appreciate all opinions.

I mean isn't that why we have three branches of government and a bill of rights? So the Executive branch can have at least two other branches to rule over with an iron fist? And aren't you tired of having civil liberties anyway?
