Same sex. Your battle buddy goes everywhere you go. If there are an odd number of males or females, they put them in groups of three.

The Battle Buddy you are assigned at basic training depends on where you fall in the alphabet. Not just that, but also where you go for basic training, I went to Fort Benning, and that is an all male training post, but i think no matter where you go, your battle buddy will be the same sex to prevent sexual harassment accusations.

There is NO co-ed training in the military. Males and females train apart for obvious reasons.
