You need representation. If you do not have it, your chances of getting social security benefits are very slim and you will spend years trying to get what is due you. The most revered company with a very high success rate is Allsup. They collect no fee unless they obtain the benefits for you. They got mine on the first go round. It took six months. To apply for social security disability, you need to visit the social seucrity office closest to where you live, or call that office, or go to the social security website.

With regard to what someone else wrote, actually, social services does not have anything to do with social security disability or ssi. I used to be a social services caseworker in most programs and social services only handles food stamps, afdc, and medicaid, in addition to energy and housing assistance.

You need to locate the Social Services Office in your area. They will assign you a case work who will help advise you on this very lengthy process. In additiion to applications you will need to see doctors over and over again and the doctors must certify that you are inable to work due to a disability. And then there are interviews and more applications. This process can take up to two years! Only in very special cases will disability be approved in less than two years. First of all you need to get you a good attorney.Iwent down this road in 1999.you will need to go to your local SSA office and get all the paper work filled out.get all of your medical records from all your Drs.that have treated you while you have been sick.Its a long process.Make copys of everything you get so you will have a copy of everything the SSA have.The other thing i would do is to get in touch with your congressman in your area.You will be surprised the help he has to offer.Iwould get a monthly report on my case from my congressman.I had to have a hearing before a judge I KNEWthe date before my attorney did because my congessman made the time and date with the judge and let me know first.so please get your congressman to help you because you are going to need all the help you can get and all his help is free of charge.good luck and wish you the best.
