Whichever party has the majority controls committee chairmanship assignments. They also control what legislation gets to the floor for debate and approval. This includes who gets to include an earmark and which earmarks.

Having a majority represents the will of the ppl but this seems to be a little too far reached... controlling new legislation.

Btw it is a little more complicated... the minority can summit legislation for a vote to even be considered but trust me, the majority really has the say in the end... that's politics today.

If you agree that this is too much power to one party, how can it be fixed?

This so called "Free Speech" is tandamount to falsly screaming "Fire" in a crowded movie theater, making a "bomb threat" or threatening someone with violence.
Speaking out against the government and the president is "Alarmism" and should be dealt with accordingly, such as detention, detainment and/or corrections/rehabilitation.

Bush Nuts --Are George W. Bush lovers certifiable? By Andy Bromage 23 Nov 2006 A collective "I told you so" will ripple through the world of Bush-bashers once news of Christopher Lohse’s study gets out. Lohse, a social work master’s student at Southern Connecticut State University, says he has proven what many progressives have probably suspected for years: a direct link between mental illness and support for President [sic] Bush.

What do you think about this?

We should make prisoner labor camps and send every single illegal immigrant up to work there if they like to work so much. And we should blast them all when they try to cross the border. WE NEED TO PURIFY OUR NATION.

If Maliki and his cabinet are to say at one point that they do not want us there anymore (just as most Iraqi civilians have said), does anyone believe Bush will honestly allow a gradual withdrawl to occur?

Details first, then the question.
Details: the couple sued their direct tv or whatever company because they charged them for porn that they never ordered. the port was ordered on sept 11 when the couple were watching the memorials for that day. the couple ended up fighting among each other as to who ordered it. finally they sued for a million dollar for "emotional upset"

so my question is, how could someone sue for that great of an amount. does emotional upset cost a million dollars? who is anyone to tell how "emotionally upset they were"?
can they be lying just for that?

i hear a lot of suites for millions of dollars for stuff like that. is there something i'm missing?

thanks

According to the Quran, Surah 9:5, Muslims are taught to..." fight and slay the pagans wherever you find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every strategem of war."

When is American going to wake up & defend itself? Making "nice-nice" and bending over backwards not to insult them, while anti-semitism is rampant, and Christian rights are trampled everyday, makes me sick. Where are the men of courage and honor in America? Are there not any more man-enough to arm and defend this country from the enemy, no matter what sheep's clothing they wear???

I will apologize now if any are offended. My intent is to open the doors of possibility thinking.
