If Maliki and his cabinet are to say at one point that they do not want us there anymore (just as most Iraqi civilians have said), does anyone believe Bush will honestly allow a gradual withdrawl to occur?

No. He'll find some reason or another to stay. (Can't forget that oil). Again, Bush is in quite a bit of trouble right now. Remember, The US took a large number of young Iraqis to "train" for security purposes. Many of them went to Jordan. The streets are not secure and it will take a while for them to become secure. I don't believe this "westernized" method of training is doing any good in Iraq. In that respect, I believe Maliki has other plans to provide security. Even if it means "using" al Sadr.and Iran. And Syria.

First of all Most legitimate Iraqi citizens do want our military there. We are providing a valuable service to the people of Iraq. The question is why they can't seem to get their own country under control now that we have eliminated Sadam Husein? Religion - plain and simple. Religion is the scourge of all society's. The worst wars in our history have been over religion. You believe as I believe or I will kill you! What a load of crap. Religion is a waste of time and a fairy tale. Okay back to the point. We have gotten rid of the old regime and established voting and the Iraqi people have elected a proper government that refuses to work together - hey that sound a lot like our government! Any how as a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan I can assure you the citizenry of Iraq love our soldiers and what we are doing for them. Building roads, schools, churches etc. You only see the negative on the news. We must continue the mission and prop up the government of Iraq until they are able to do so themselves.

That's a bad comparison. Private Security (Screeners) operated in a pre-9/11 situation & Airport / Governmental funding forward these private companies was minimal (in terms of staffing etc) at that time. When Bush changed to "govt run", he only did so because Americans are idiots who feel a since of "safety" because Government runs something (even though the facts do not bear this out and its more expensive). When comparisons were done between private screens & TSA staff, private companies did a much better job finding stuff thru x-rays etc. Private companies don't offer the PRICEY benefit packages either, so they are way cheaper. The U.S. Government knows the best combination of airport security is Government Oversight (Supervisors) with a private security company doing the grunt work. We simply don't do this because of the sheep. Nice try though

Bush will do everything in his power to make sure US troops don't look like they are cutting and running which means Iraqi troops will start taking and US troops will fall back to secure bases in Iraq and slowly be redeployed to Afganhistan or sent home to the US slowly. By the time all of this is finished Bush will be out of office and won't have to say he cut and ran.

And what do you base the statement that "most Iraqi civilians" do not want us there? I have seen no credible surveys or reports to that effect, so your whole premise falls apart. In point of fact, with the exception of Bagdad, Iraq is doing quite nicely and the civilians are in no hurry for us to leave.

He will stay as long as Halliburton and the like have unfinished no bid contracts. He is there for plunder, and the regional control of oil. He will only get out if that is "accomplished." That is what "mission accomplished" is all about. His agenda works better if there is disorder in Iraq. Iraq was orderly under Saddam, and ugly. Now it is uglier and disorderly. That was the plan.
