I believe so but the oil companys are the ones that stop that from happening In the USA,for Instance the man that Invented a small wind machine sort of like a wind mill but uses less wind,It Is being used In this country But the rights were sold to Mitsabishi and are now being used here, yep the oil companys dont want that to happen and they have a lot of power

We could do it without issue, except big oil would never allow it. We've already developed cars and machinery that can run on a whole host of fuels (including hydrogen & ethenol) but it would impact the profits of the oil companies too much, so it's not as widely used.

Sounds good but not practical, its still taking years of science before we can be dependant of renewable energy..,if we were allowed to drill and process our own oil we could tell them to stuff it but we have to many enviromentalists that keep us dependant on the Arab countries.

No, we will always need oil, and to switch from it, will cost ten times more money. Oil will always be a part of mankind, but not only when it comes to gas, alot of the products you buy are made with oil products.

Hell yeah it would.

It's not going to happen tomorrow, but it's entirely possible for the U.S. to reduce its oil consumption to what it, Canada, Mexico, and the North Sea countries can produce in a few decades.
