What do you think, has the picture of the USA changed due to the politics of Bush?
What kind of impact did it have. How are the USA seen by todays world?
Do people see the US as a country that protects democracy?

Answers please from in and outside the USA.

I don't want to see any anti-american or anti-islamistic paroles please, just your opinion without emotional escapades. There is room enough for that on the web.

My best friends have always encouraged me to write a book about my life, and now that I've finally formed an idea of what the book will be about, I'm starting to worry that I can't write such a book, if you can be arrested and imprisoned for admitting to having done illegal things in your youth, such as shoplifting, vandalism, and drugs. It's not meant to be taken as anything more than reminiscing about the past, it's not like we do those things anymore. And it's not like we're wanted offenders or anything. We've gotten away with the stuff we've done when we were younger. But can we be arrested for it now that we're in our 30's and want to share amusing tales about the crazy life we once lived?

I see Bush is happy as a pig in mud. With the House Republicans out of the way he can now count on presenting his "good friend" Vincente Fox with a brand, new amnesty for the 25,000,000 illegal aliens who have invaded our country.

When do you think Congress will have the bill ready to sign?

My guess..... Cinco de Mayo, 2007.

Who knows, maybe Bush is going to move to Mexico after his term is up.

In the elections yesterday, people in Michigan voted down affirmative action in government and public schools and universities. What do you think of affirmative action programs? Do you think they are still needed? Do they cause reverse discrimination? Have you had a personal experience with affirmative action?

(apologies for the posting problems! Meant to edit and wound up deleting)

Just because the Democrats were successful in this election, doesn't mean he's gone yet.

I admit that I too have been a bit of a dick, but I feel like I've witnessed what this country stands for, and that's something that I was always very skeptical about. I really do think the people had an effect just by voting, and even though this doesn't completely satisfy one "Party's" means, it still proves to me that America is...well...a great place that still contains a lot of it's essential values for survival.

Of course, it can be argued that the two parties that always battle for supremacy are essentially the same when it comes down to profiteering, etc. Power is important in a capitalistic society, in any society specifically.

But, we are all brothers and sisters, and I would be damned if I were to avoid a person just because he held a different political belief than mine.

Maybe it's just easy for us to vent anger over the internet?

I am a strong believer in voting. I vote in every single election I can. Yesterday, before I got a chance to vote. I recieved a telephone call from the Police Enforcers that told me that I would be ARRESTED if I tried to vote! I vote in every election, always the perenial write in candidate "Jar Jar Binks", because I believe in democracy, and I believe in a better world. I shouldn't be threatened and oppressed like this? How are we to have a fair election if people are arrested when the try to vote? What can I do?

I mean, thats the only thing they test for that stays in your body more than a few days. Drug testing companies have used Marijuana as a focal point to sell their products and services since drug testing started. Is it possible that small amounts of mariuana will become legal, therefore flipping the balance of these companies onto the truly dangerous drugs? And leaving me, a proud, family feeding, tax paying, pot smoking, hardworking American alone?

I keep hearing on the news that Duval Patrick, newly elected governor of Massachusetts, is the first black governor of that state and the second black governor elected in the U.S. However, if I remember correctly, Ed Brooke was governor of Massachusetts years ago, and he was black. He also was elected to the Senate from Massachusetts. Has my memory failed me??

Seems to me that his concession would put a very good image on republicans in general. But on the other hand, it could anger his fellow party members. What do you think he should do?
