Affirmative Action was needed in the 60's, 70's even the 80's but the truth is...its not really needed now. I'm a black female and I do believe that there is still discrimination now. However, whether or not AA is in affect or not it's not going to change prejudice. It just should be a diversity policy that businesses, schools, etc. just hire a different people (nationalities) that are qualified.

Putting minorities in posistions just becauseof there race will not solve anytihng. For one, it will just make white people bitter. Now when a minority is in power, people will tihnk it is because they did not deserve it, and they only got the job because they are black. It is just racism and decrimination to give someone a job, or nto give someone a job baised on there race. I think it is wrong to give someone soemtihng they don't deseve. Besides who wants that pity.
Also, Asians don't even quilify for Affiermitive Action, becauset hey are sterotyped as being sucessful. It is also a sterotype that black people (because that is who A. Action is mainly focused on) cant do tihngs for themsleves. Havn;t black people triupm on thereown in the past?
I have both benefited and been denined becauseof Affirimiative Action. At my school I am oen of the only white kids, and sometimes I tihnk I am accpeted in programs that go to repersent the school becuase they want to look diverse. I always felt alittle gulty, becuase I felt I only got the honnor becuase I was white. When ever my school is supossed to have student represenittes with programs that alredy have white kids frm other schools, I have been denied becase I do not seem diverse.
I am also aginsts affirmative action basied on economics. It seems like alto of times white people will say they dont like A. Action for race, but for economics. DO you know why? Because it will benefit them. I myslef am from a low encome family, but yet I do not favor any form of A. Action. People cant controle if they are black or white, and they cant contorle if they are born rich or poor. Why punish people or reward them for something that they can not controle.

Affirmative Action is nothing more than racial and gender discrimination. What could be more racist than that? Congratulations to the voters in Michigan for doing the right thing.

I am a Democrat, but I personally believe affirmative action is a unjust program. It is long overdue for the phasing out of affirmative action.

I think, here in Michigan, the only thing the aa programs were accomplishing, was fostering resentment.
I know of many instances where qualified people weren't hired, or admitted because of the "quota system".
I don't think such programs are necessary anymore....at least not in Michigan. We have a very diverse population, and I have a hard time believing anyone would have difficulty finding a job here because of ethnicity or race.

Affirmative action is a federal program, an individual state really can't override it without a lot of problems.

sadly affirmative action is still needed today.
as much as we like to say we are a color blind society we aren't people do judge others because they look different and this can become a problem when it comes to things like going into college or getting a job.
also affirmative action isn't just about race there are meaning programs that help women that may not get cut.

Now that it's passed all those wonderful liberal Americans who love "democracy" so much will try to get a judge to overturn it. Watch.
