What do you think, has the picture of the USA changed due to the politics of Bush?
What kind of impact did it have. How are the USA seen by todays world?
Do people see the US as a country that protects democracy?

Answers please from in and outside the USA.

I don't want to see any anti-american or anti-islamistic paroles please, just your opinion without emotional escapades. There is room enough for that on the web.

Generally speaking, yes it has had an impact on the image of the US. I'm in the USA. But many people outside the US are quite upset with us over Iraq. Outside of the Islamic world, not many are too upset with us over Afghanistan-- that was considered justified given the taliban, OBL and 9/11.

After 9/11 the US supposedly had much support over being attacked. Even from some countries one wouldn't expect.

Invading Iraq based on faulty info has been seen as a mistake especially in light of ignoring the UN position on this. We had broad support in the first Gulf war but not in the second.

I do speak with friends and colleagues from other countries-- generally they're ok US people, but quite upset about our policies around the world. I've also seen opinions from some that indicate we're too leanient in some cases-- that is, we need to just demolish people who mess with us.

In one converstation, I was discussing freedom of speech etc. with a foreign student (from Europe). When I mentioned protests, it surprised him that we protest against our own government. In his country, most of the protests are against the US and less so against their own goverment.

I think we (the US) are often seen as trying to impose our wishes on everybody else regardless of what they want or think.

Oh, I'll echo the comment below me-- many outside the US think "americans" are generally ignorant. Not agreeing with that but that's the perception.

Uha....well , just some maybe, and uha he's still harmful, but that said, The effects of both Bush's 41 & 43, as Presidents, and the illegal dealings carried on by Marvin, Jeb & Neil, they are also still working for the Clan. But I would be safe in saying that George W. Bush will end up having quite an impact on the country we so dearly love! On Nov. 7, 2006 America decided they had enough. They decided to save themselves. Bless you America !

The world has not changed in their opinion of the United States. What has changed, is the world is more open of their dislike of the United States. Due to the growth of the Internet over the past 10 years(shorter in some countries) more non-Americans are chatting and blogging. I have had the pleasure of meeting a large number of international people. Not all of them are happy or friendly - they are human. Many have faults and some are down right mean and nasty. Some have a huge desire to come to the United States , they just don't like Americans. They want the opportunities the United States offers but either hate our government or us as a race of people(in the world's eyes we are all one race- American). Many love the idea of our freedoms as long as they don't have to put up with any of us.

So the giant picture of the United States hasn't changed as a whole - it is just more out in the open now.

So if Bush used to be an atheist his movements could be extra legitimate????? I supported the warfare and I nonetheless aid it. This has without doubt not anything to do with my religion or faith, however my perspectives on worldwide politics and what's within the exceptional curiosity of the US. You wish Bush not to have his religion have an effect on his insurance policies, however then declare each and every coverage he makes is founded on his religion. That simply isnt reasonable. Does anybody actually suppose he selected to move with warfare in Iraq given that of his faith? Can anybody relatively be that blinded and swayed by way of the hateful rhetoric of the a ways left that they are able to fall for the sort of ridiculous lie? The FAR left wishes faith to be blamed for the whole lot and has used Bush's faith to check out not to handiest discredit him, however faith in most cases. If you relatively believe his insurance policies, esp his international insurance policies, had whatever to do with faith then you've real fallen for the political spin of the a ways left. bandi, I realize you particularly didnt make any point out approximately this, however many did of their solutions. There is a fashion, regardless that, in terms of striking Bush and faith in combination in this message board. I relatively do believe utilizing faith towards Bush is only a political tactic of the a ways left to check out to discredit each faith and the president and the argument simply doesnt preserve validity.

It probably did a little. I think that people have a false image of what most people already thought of the US prior to 2000 though.
