Repubs controlled the congress and the whitehouse, so nothing was stopping them from "showing us how its done". If Repubs knew how to govern well, they would have done so.

GW Bush said today at his press conference that he had been planning to replace Donald Rumsfeld for a while now. But just a week ago he stated emphatically that Rumsfeld would not be replaced and would remain for the duration of his presidency. GW Bush claimed that the replacement of Rumsfeld was not in response to the "thumpin'" his party got on Tuesday. Is GW Bush lying? Or is there some way we can still claim he was telling the truth both times?

upset victory in Virginia, giving the party complete domination of Capitol Hill for the first time since 1994.
Jim Webb's squeaker win over incumbent Sen. George Allen (news, bio, voting record) gave Democrats their 51st seat in the Senate, an astonishing turnabout at the hands of voters unhappy with Republican scandal and unabated violence in Iraq. Allen was the sixth Republican incumbent senator defeated in Tuesday's elections.
The Senate had teetered at 50 Democrats, 49 Republicans for most of Wednesday, with Virginia hanging in the balance. Webb's victory ended Republican hopes of eking out a 50-50 split, with Vice President Dick Cheney wielding tie-breaking authority.
The Associated Press contacted election officials in all 134 localities where voting occurred, obtaining updated numbers Wednesday. About half the localities said they had completed their postelection canvassing and nearly all had counted outstanding absentees. www.cnn.com

The rent was up to date and the following month's rent was paid by the deceased's sibling to schedule professional movers and clean...the apartment was rented 2 days after the the keys were returned. A check was sent to the sibling's address but it was made out to the estate of the deceased. There was no will. When asked to write out the check to the sibling rather than the deceased's estate, the owner stated that he was doing a favor (check made out to the estate) and did not have to pay otherwise. He chose to take 20% out of the deposit for carpet replacement (rented 7 yrs) but did not replace it. The owner admitted that the sibling should be paid for the cleaning but after waiting 3 months the sibling asked the owner why he was "sitting on the check" ,.. the owner replied "you're being pushy, I think I will "sit on the check" it has been 5 months...Is there a legal stand in this event?

I'm sure it applies to young people too, but what is the big deal about your vote needing to be "private"? Are you so ashamed of your position you don't want anyone to know? Is it some archaic tradition? I just think its weird. What do you think?
