In a perverse kind of way, I am, but I don't base my happiness on who's in power in Washington.

We're facing two years of nothing. No radical agenda from either side, no increased interference in the economy, etc. Which will be fantastic for those of us who hate big government.

It also helped the Republicans, because it exposed the fact that they've let power in Washington sidetrack them from the purpose of the party, and maybe such a defeat will lead to a lot of soul searching and a revival of what the Republican Party should stand for.

The socialists on the other side will overreach, as they always do, and the electorate may wake up and realize that the vote they cast yesterday wasn't for the Democrats class warfare agenda but against Bush and Iraq. Then again, they may not, and the country may be dumb enough to put a Democrat in the White House in 2008. But, eventually, the country may wake up and save itself before it throws itself on the scrap heap of history.

On a national level...not surprised. Now let's see how well the elitists do at playing with others. I know that there are many terrorist who are thrilled that our nation took their advice and voted for the dems. That ought to tell you something, unless you class terrorists with Santa Claus (as in: nonexistant).

On the state level...I can live with the governor we chose, he isn't who I voted for, but I don't blame anyone for not wanting the other choice. However.......

WooooooooHooooooooo!!!!!!!! Did we ever do well on our initiatives!!!! The majority of people here understand what "domestic partnership" really means, no matter how cleverly it is put about AND we understand that there are economic ups and economic downs, so why amend eternal pay increases that will hurt lower income families? So we didn't.

We also managed to say "no" on some incredibly oddly worded initiatives.
We survived electronic voting, had a GREAT turnout, held Gill and co at bay for another election. Now it is time for the holidays!

Thanks for asking, because I really am jazzed about my local election. Just in case you hadn't noticed. ; )

I was just watching Osama's Victory Party on Al Jeezera.
He seems pleased.

Me, I think it's an alltime low.

The Democrats and their supporters are very happy. They are now making plans to liberalize the US.
