50% is not a majority, 51% is. More than on race is close enough to trigger mandatory recounts. The is NO race in the country were OFFICIAL results are in. Provisional ballots (which are not in the unofficial counts) and some absentee ballots have not been counted yet. This is not to say the preliminary returns on wrong. I simply mean your statement (and you did not ask a question) is based on incomplete information.

BTW, the House has SOLE authority to impeach. The Senate acts as the jury at trial. Impeachment is the indictment.

No no, we don't have a Senate majority yet. The Virginia race is still too close to call, and while it looks like Webb probably won, Allen could demand a recount. So we'll have to see. Meanwhile, we do have a majority in the House, which is GREAT. But no, I don't foresee anyone making a serious attempt at impeachment. I think this country learned its lesson when the GOP pulled that crap on Clinton - we can't go the route of the European democracies and simply excuse our executives with a vote of no-confidence. We just have to see it through. Of course, I could be wrong...
I think that Bush is, for all intents and purposes, finished in this country. He has solidified his place in history as one of the worst presidents we've ever had, and his power structure has collapsed beneath him. We're going to see an end to no-bid contracts, spying on our citizens, tax breaks for wealthy corporations, and the destruction of our environment. Things are looking up, my friendly neighbor to the north...

It'll be tough to impeach the President of the U.S., since the prior 2 administrations left detailed information concerning WMD in Iraq.

I believe there will be a recount, since it is within the % to ask for one. I don't think it should go to court, the GOP should follow the election laws and take the high road vs. the democrats in prior elections. I think the U.S. is now supplied with check and balances moving forward, but the best scenerio would have been just a democratic congress.

Really, the Dems will have to execute their game plan immediately or this will be short lived.

He wont get impeached. He just started a war based on lies, appointed a boob to head FEMA which killed thousands more, and stuff like that. Its not like he got a BJ.

We're talking about America, man. America is one F'd up place.

The majority is small, and it is not quite enough to do anything other than annoy Republicans (and the general public for that matter). total waste of time to even pursue it.
