GW Bush said today at his press conference that he had been planning to replace Donald Rumsfeld for a while now. But just a week ago he stated emphatically that Rumsfeld would not be replaced and would remain for the duration of his presidency. GW Bush claimed that the replacement of Rumsfeld was not in response to the "thumpin'" his party got on Tuesday. Is GW Bush lying? Or is there some way we can still claim he was telling the truth both times?

He was lying, he admitted as much himself, end of story. What, are they going to say he was lying about lying, so that at least he told the truth twice? (LOL) Now, let's hope his previous statement (about Rummy staying until the end of his presidency) proves to be prophetic, and we can get rid of Bush, as well.

George W. is a freakin' liar!!! Of course he did it because of the beating his party took yesterday. There is no other explanation especially since he has been so publicy behind Rumsfeld... oops but all of a sudden he is back peddling what the heck ever.

Operational diligence dictates that a president NOT TELL the world his designs for national security.

Since you regard the dems speech as some kind of Vulgate, I can understand your confusion.

He may have been planning it, but didn't want to make an announcement that would throw the election into fits at the last minute.
Not that you have ever told a white lie about something...
Would prefer Rummy stay on?

I would!

Some on here say Pelosi threatened him. Yeah, sure. I'm wondering, though, every time that you change your mind...does that mean you were lying at first?
