Although I really don't believe much of anything the president says anymore, he didn't fire 'feldy, he quit. He may have been lying if he knew that Donald would resign. No, we cannot trust anything he says. No, I don't think he has any shame yet, but the next two years may bring shame to him.

Bush didn't let Rumsfeld go. Rumsfeld left. Now Bush will free-fall by himself.

Would you have voted for the Republicans if Bush had said, Yeah, I'm gonna fire him after we win? The president has so much integrity that he was truthful and did not want to affect the election outcome. He SHOULD HAVE lied, maybe the election would have turned out differently. It doesn't matter now, the dems already got rid of Rummy and now they will want more.

Ehhh, maybe. This seems to have been old Rummy's decision and I have yet to see any proof that Bush wanted him out. If you ask me it should have been done long ago and if it had been done long ago the Dems may not have had the success they had last night.

What was he going to say? "I'm gonna fire Rummy the day after the election."?

He said what he thought was best for republicans to win votes. Firing a member of your cabinet, especially your Defense minister would have been a sign to the people that Bush feels his agenda is failing.

I don't think Rumsfeld had the stomach to be berated and harassed by hypocritical libs. The old man was and is the most highly qualified person to hold the job and has rebuilt our military for modern combat.

It's hard to know things happen in politics that most people will never understand and most politicians lie to get what they want.
