Now that the Republicans paid the price for losing their way, what are some of the ideas we can run on? Here are some of mine.

1. Throw all able bodied people off of welfare.
2. Implement the Fair Tax.
3. Unleash Troops on terrorists in Iraq.
4. Shoot many missiles at North Korea
5. Throw the UN out of NY. Give them 60 days to leave.
6. Pull the US out of the UN
7. Ban all reporters from the battle field.
8. Arrest and try for treason anyone who leaked classified stories and the people who reported on them.
9. Make abortion legal only when the mother will die, she will be permanently and irreversibly physically injured, maybe on rape and incest.
10. Open ANWAR and all other areas where oil is on the US soil.
11. Offer any legal American child private school vouchers.
12. Make it mandatory for all voters to show a government issued ID.

I've noticed on episodes of Law and Order, or Without A Trace, when they go and question possible witnesses or suspects, that they get the door closed in their faces, refusals to talk, etc. I know these shows aren't reality, so in the "real world", is it not necessarily required for you to talk to the officers if they approach you?

Isnt it amazing how republicans said we would never win both the senate and the house?

My question is now that republicans are a minority and have no control over government. Will they now be a thing of the past? how do they feel now that they lost power due to scandals and corruption?

In my opinion it was probably both a referendum on a war that is not going well, and backlash on a party who has failed to work together, miserably dealt with issues like illegal immigration, and left the core values that made them attractive. Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely right of moderate, and have always voted straight ticket Republican, until yesterday. I don't have a lot of confidence in the Democrat's doing any better, but would like to be wrong.

As millions of lunatic Muslims plot to murder Americans, some Americans — we call them "Soccer Moms" — will cast a vote to save Michael J. Fox this year. In the process, they will put all Americans at risk by voting for a frivolous, dying party. (democrats)

If Democrats win a slight majority in the House or Senate, Americans will get shrill, insane leadership of the nation in time of war.

My husband is in the Army and is being deployed. He owned his own construction firm here before he got called up, we bought a house and new vehicles and everything was fine. We have not lived above our means and had no problems paying our bills until he went into active duty. Even with the SCRA lowering our bills I am still finding it hard to pay our bills on the E-4 pay he receives now. He was supposed to be promoted because he has been in almost 10 years now but after 3 months of promises it didnt happen. Now his superiors are saying, nope...you are living above your means and you need to sell your house and vehicles. That will solve your financial problems. Can they do that? I mean can they force us to sell our property just because they can't match what my husband was making before and because they won't promote him??? This just does not seem fair to me. Should I consult an attorney??

I am Catholic (I guess) but I haven't been to services in many years. I'd like to go this year, and I was just thinking ahead to Ash Wednesday. At work last year some people came to work with the ash cross on their foreheads, and left it there all day at work.
Does any employer have the right to tell you you have to wash it off or whatever? Or is this religious freedom ? Because I know there are sometimes lawsuits even over people wearing crosses to work.

also, Catholics, when do you wash that off?at end of day on ash wed.? thanks.

Whatever they earn... they dont send back to Mexico or wherever, but keep it in the USA and spend it to stimulate the economy even further.

They stop waving that flag of theirs without the US flag and they stop disrespecting it.

They get their illegal selves legalized and they pay certain extra conditions like 4-8 years military service or 20% increased taxes for 8-15 years (the time it would take them to be citizens the legal way).

They stop supporting La Raza or any of those remotely racist pro-Hispanic groups.

(before you attack me, I'd like to say that I am not nor will I ever be pro-illegal, but I've always wanted to play devil's advocate).

It works for us, to a degree, because we have created it through our struggles against other, less enlightened forms of government. Our laws are made by people who have our individual and collective interests at heart. Where do we go from here, if anywhere?
